Until recently, for residents of Russia, a visa to the Czech Republic was not required to enter this country. But since the Czech Republic decided to join the European Union, the rules for foreigners, including Russians, have changed significantly.
Now all foreign citizens need to get a Schengen visa, since the Czech Republic is a member of the European Union and is a signatory to the Schengen agreement.

Documents for a visa to the Czech Republic
Adults must submit the following documents to the visa center or Consulate General of the Czech Republic:
- a foreign passport with a validity period of at least 90 days from the date of the planned return from the country;
- two photos of good quality 3.5 * 4.5 cm and without prints;
- a completed application form received at the visa center or consulate;
- a copy of all pages of the passport of a citizen of Russia;
- a certificate of employment indicating the position, duration and average monthly salary - not less than 28 thousand rubles;
- Entrepreneurs must provide a copy of the personal income tax certificate in form 3;
- non-working citizens must present a certificate from the bank on movements in the applicant’s account for the last three months;
- medical insurance issued for the entire period of stay abroad.
Registration of a visa to the Czech Republic for minor children requires the submission of additional documents, except for the above. Permission of the parent staying in the Russian Federation to leave the child abroad is required. The document must be certified by a notary public. If the child is entered in the parental passport, then it is necessary to provide his birth certificate in addition . If the child is older than 6 years, then his photo should be in the passport of the parent.
It is worth noting that applying for a visa to the Czech Republic does not guarantee entry into the country. On the Czech border, as well as in many other countries, you may be asked to show a document confirming that you have booked a hotel room. You may also need medical insurance and confirmation that your account has the required amount of $ 30 for each day of your stay in the Czech Republic. And finally, you must have a paid return ticket or money to purchase it. Of course, all this may not be necessary, but it is better to play it safe and take care of everything in advance.
