There are a lot of tilde -style dolls . These are bears, and bunnies, and seals, and dogs, and even giraffes, as well as much more. We suggest that you learn how to make a tilda-snail doll (pattern, master class are attached).
Materials and tools for sewing toys
In order for you to get a real snail in the tilde style, you need to choose high-quality natural fabrics. The most commonly used flax and cotton. You can choose any color absolutely. But for the body, pick up fabric in beige shades. A shell is most often sewn from a patch with a bright ornament.
As a filler, it is better to use slices of holofiber or synthetic winterizer. But if you have small unnecessary scraps of fabric, then they will do.
The remaining materials are at your discretion and according to your wishes.
Building patterns
As a rule, all toys in the style of a tilde are small in size. Therefore, a couple of A4 leaves will be enough for you to understand how the pattern is made. A full-size tilde snail, sewn according to such a drawing, will correspond to all the necessary proportions.
On one sheet, a body with the horns of a future toy is drawn, and on the second - a shell-house. You need to immediately depict it in a spiral shape. At the same time try to “stratify” (see image of the pattern above). On the body schematically depict the connection of the shell. These are usually two simple lines.
You can also make the pattern fit on one sheet. A full-size tilde snail will turn out in this way. Just draw the body and the “house” on top of each other, as in the picture below.
Best of all, when the pattern is drawn on thick cardboard or oilcloth. Then it will last longer, and you can make more toys.
We sew a simple snail
The basis of all seemingly complex toys of snails in the tilde style is the most important and simple preparation.
Instructions on how to make the base of a snail:
- We need a fabric of two shades (for example, beige for the body and pink for the shell), a needle, thread, any filler (synthetic winterizer, holofiber and so on) and a pattern.
- The tilde snail consists of four parts - two on the body and a "house".
- Fold the fabric in half, attach a paper pattern and cut out the details (Figure 1).
- Sew the parts in pairs, leaving small holes in the joints (Figure 2).
- Turn out the details of the body and shells.
- Fill the parts of the toy with filler. To do this, it is convenient to use a wooden stick or pencil (Figure 3). Distribute the filler evenly over all parts of the body and shell, pay special attention to the head and horns.
- Sew holes.
- Sew the shell to your torso (Figure 4).
- Draw a little face (eyes and mouth), make a blush.
The workpiece is ready. It remains to decorate the toy. You can resort to imagination or use ready-made tips to get the original tilde snail.
Pattern, master class on decorating toys
The decor of a traditional snail in the tilde style includes such an attribute as wheels. They can be made of buttons, large beads, decorative wooden wheels and so on.
For example, to make such a snail, you will need to prepare four identical buttons, three artificial flowers with green leaves, three pieces of multi-colored fabric and a filler, a bead, a ribbon or a finished bow as decorative elements.
Master class on creating a traditional tilde snail:
- Sew the stitch of the toy on the pattern.
- Decorate the junction of the shell-house with the body using a thin lace ribbon. It can be either sewn or glued using a glue gun.
- Sew all four buttons to the sides of the body.
- Three small pads need to be sewn from pieces of fabric. Cut two squares from each shred, sew them in pairs and fill with filler.
- Fold all three pads together and sew them to the shell.
- Decorate the pillows with a bead on top.
- Make a bow out of a ribbon and tie it on a snail's horn.
The traditional tilde snail is ready!
Christmas snail
Themed toy is quite simple. You will need beige fabric for the body and red for the shell. Ideally, use material with Christmas motifs (for example, snowflakes, deers, bells, snowmen, and so on). Then sew the blank of the toy. To do this, you need a pattern.
Tilde snail for the New Year is decorated as follows:
- If a fabric with a thematic pattern was used, then the shell should not be touched. If the shell is sewn from a single-color patch, then take paints (preferably acrylic for working on the fabric) and draw snowflakes.
- Decorate the junction of the house with the body with lace with pompoms.
- Glue a red bow or a Christmas hat on the snail’s horns.

Other decor options
You can decorate a tilde snail in different ways using the following materials:
- lace sewn to the shell;
- ribbons and bows tied to horns or around the neck;
- artificial flowers (single or whole bouquets);
- homemade fabric flowers;
- dried lavender sewn to the shell;
- various beads;
- various decorative elements (for example, ladybugs, hearts, keys and so on).
Do not forget to decorate the junction of the "house" and the body with beautiful lace, satin ribbons, twine or other auxiliary materials.
