Despite the fact that every year more and more new equipment appears in the world, more “advanced” in terms of its technical characteristics, this does not mean that it will last forever. Sooner or later, any mechanism malfunctions. And no matter how reliable the part may be, this does not insure it against a possible failure. And when repairing such equipment, the main tool is a soldering iron. Today we look at what makes an infrared soldering station special and what it can do.
Construction characteristic
A quartz or ceramic radiator can be used as the main heating element in the design of this mechanism. At the same time, both types of devices provide fast and efficient soldering of metal. By the way, the level of heating of this tool on infrared soldering irons can be varied to one degree or another. Thus, thanks to the presence of a special regulator, it is possible to choose the most suitable temperature regime for a particular type of metal on which the connection (soldering) will be performed.
It should be noted that the most popular type of soldering equipment is infrared stations with this type of heating, which uses a focused beam of infrared radiation. Often the design of such devices consists of two parts, which together give a local heating of the board or other constituent elements. As a result of this, a very high-quality compound can be obtained, while spending a minimum period of time on soldering.
Varieties
As we noted above, the infrared soldering station can be quartz or ceramic. In order to understand the features of each of them, we consider both types in more detail.
Ceramic
Ceramic infrared soldering station (including Achi ir6000), due to its simple design, is characterized by high reliability, strength and durability. At the same time, it takes no more than 10 minutes to warm up the entire device to the working temperature of the soldering. In such stations, a flat or hollow emitter is often used. The latter type has a much greater heating of the working surface of the emitter, as a result of which it quickly solders and glows to the desired temperature. However, the cost of such devices makes it possible to use them by no means to everyone involved in the repair of electronic digital technology.
Quartz
Quartz infrared soldering station, despite its increased fragility, has a high heating rate. Within 30 seconds, the emitter glows to its operating temperature.
Industrial or home-made infrared soldering station is often used for intermittent processes, where there are frequent on and off devices. Ceramic mechanisms are more vulnerable to frequent switching on and can instantly fail if you do not follow the operating rules.
