Interior doors: dimensions with a box. Dimensions of door frames of interior doors

When building a house or repairing an existing building, one has to either arrange an entrance opening in accordance with a door model selected in advance, or order and assemble new paintings in those that already exist. In both cases, it is important to know how large are the entrances and interior doors (dimensions with and without a frame).

Let's define concepts

A door is called an opening in the wall, which is intended for installation (installation) of the input unit. It can be external or internal (interroom). The so-called box for the door is its fixed part, fixed in the opening. The canvas is attached to it by means of loops.

When calculating the size of any opening, you need to know the dimensions of the door frames of the interior doors, i.e., their height and width, the dimensions of the platbands. You will also have to consider the thickness of the box and the presence of a threshold. In the calculation, it will be necessary to add the dimensions of the box to the width of the canvas on both sides, as well as provide for the gap necessary for installation between it and the wall panel. Usually it is from 15 to 30 mm.

The standard heights of doorways are 2100 and 2400 mm. And their width can be from 700 to 1900 mm, and those of them whose width does not exceed 1200 mm are intended for single-leaf doors, and wider - for double-leaf. There are, in addition, the so-called. one and a half doors - having two wings of different widths.

How to measure a doorway

The width of the opening is measured in its narrowest part, most often at the top. For greater accuracy, it is recommended to measure it in three different places. Height - from the floor to the top of the opening at the lowest point. If such a drop point is not found in the eye, it is worth measuring twice - on the right and left. The depth of the box is set by measuring the width of all slopes in at least three places.

For quality work, it is best to call a professional meter. This service is provided by most companies that supply and install doors. If you measure yourself, if you submit inaccurate data, you will have to pay for the return of the door that does not fit in the warehouse and the delivery of a new one. In the case of a call of a professional, the manufacturer takes all the risk.

How not to get into trouble

In order not to be in a situation where the dimensions of the boxes do not correspond to the openings, you should accurately determine your parameters. Most doors of various manufacturers have a universal size - width 60, 70 or 80 centimeters at a height of 2 m. Some manufacturers use the standard combination of a height of 190 cm with a width of 55 cm. The thickness of the frames usually varies from 15 to 40 mm.

If an unsuccessfully sized door unit does not fit into the opening, the latter will have to be expanded. Sometimes this is not possible due to the particular layout. In this case, the only way out is to order a custom-sized door, which is economically unprofitable. As a rule, the cost of such non-standard blocks is 30-50 percent more expensive than usual.

When the door does not fit the opening, it is impossible to change its dimensions in most cases. An exception - designs with sliding cloths. They are sold with a set of parts, allowing you to set the desired size of the guides, and the height of the canvases can be slightly reduced with a small hacksaw or jigsaw. The width is adjusted by the degree of web tension.

When the changes are coming

It happens that the opening is slightly wider than the purchased door, then it will require narrowing, which will also take a lot of effort and money. In addition to the need to build up walls on both sides of the canvas, a situation may arise when the platband does not completely overlap the sealing space between the panel and the box. In this case, an additional amount of work is to be done on wallpapering or reporting tiles. And most often it will have to be carried out independently, since finding a master on such a meager front of work is not easy.

In addition, remember the thickness of the walls. In standard houses, this is 750 mm, and most manufacturers try to make door frames of the appropriate size. If the thickness of the panel and the input unit does not match, you may need to either expand the box (in the form of extension or slope), or saw off in the shared direction. Without such refinement, the installation of the casing is impossible, which drops the appearance of the structure.

When the thickness of the walls around the entire perimeter of the opening is the same (this is established by repeated measurement at several control points), it makes sense to order a door according to individual dimensions. If the spread in measurements is from 3 to 30 mm, then it is still better to make an extension, which is then cut not in a straight line, but taking into account the curvature of the walls.

If after installing the door there is a change in the flooring, the unpleasant need to โ€œtrimโ€ the door from the bottom may โ€œdraw inโ€ - after all, new boards are much thicker than the old linoleum. Such work is qualitatively able to perform only a professional.

box sizes

Interior doors: dimensions with a box

The dimensions of the doors are regulated by more than 30 GOSTs and SNiPs. We will decide on the most important of them.

According to GOST, the doors have the following dimensions:

- Kitchen door: width 70 cm, height - 2 m with a box depth of 7 cm.

- Door to the toilet and bathroom: width 55 or 60 cm, height - 1 m 90 cm or 2 m. Box - from 5 to 7 cm.

- Interior door: the width is usually 80 cm, the height is 2 m. The depth of the box is 5-6 cm.

The dimensions for the living room interior doors with the box are as follows (we are talking about double doors): height - 2 m, width - 1 m 20 cm, and depth - from 7 to 20 cm.

Buying standard doors has several advantages. This is a wide selection, ease of installation and, most importantly, cost-effectiveness.

When supplying interior doors, the dimensions with a box by their manufacturer must indicate on the factory packaging. A clearance of about 30 mm in height and width between the box and the opening is needed for the correct installation, fastening, adjustment, installation of heat and sound insulation and filling with foam.

interior sliding doors

Sliding doors

In recent years, the popularity of sliding doors has increased dramatically. They are original and comfortable, allow you to save space in small apartments and decorate the interior of large rooms. Sliding interior doors are single and double. The former are often used in small rooms, when opened, they are shifted to the side. Installation is quite easy, without installing a door frame.

The second (i.e., bivalve) - wide, comfortable and bearing a decorative function. They are placed in spacious rooms and consist, as a rule, of two halves.

Their dimensions in height - from 2 meters, in width - 1-1.8 meters, you can select other parameters.

Sliding interior doors can be glass, folding type "accordion" (of various materials, from aluminum to wood), type "compartment" or "pencil case", as well as a system of sliding partitions.
