In the summer of 1971, the city executive committee of Arkhangelsk decided to build a children's park in the city. A plot of land of 1.45 hectares was allocated for him. Initially, it was planned to establish several traditional attractions on this territory, plant a lot of greenery, make sandboxes. But during the construction process, it was decided to build a real amusement park. The Amusing Yard (Arkhangelsk) got its name much later.
How it all began?
Construction was completed at the end of July 1972. In the new park there are children's cars, non-motorized carousels, bicycles, tennis tables, swings for babies. Its official opening was a colorful and memorable ceremony. In the first two days alone, more than fifteen thousand adults and small residents of the city visited him.
The main attention of visitors to the park was riveted to the Ferris wheel, which offers beautiful views of the Northern Dvina and the whole city. Equally successful at that time was the movie theater “Polet”. It is located in the cabin of this aircraft. Every half hour here they showed one of the series of the animated film "Well, wait a minute!" In the park were placed "Russian Swing", carousels "Curly" and "Chain", the original "Rocket Launcher", a sports field and several more attractions.
Since the beginning of its work, the park has carried out such activities as:
- organization of classes for interest groups, clubs and sections;
- holding meetings with interesting people;
- organization of excursions, trips, holidays, matinees.
Children’s Park "Poteshniy Dvor": history
The park changed its name several times. Until 1996, it was called the "Center for Entertainment and Leisure", then until 2000 it was laconic name "Children's Park", since 2003 - "Children's Culture Park". Only in January 2008 it received its current name - the children's park "Poteshniy Dvor" (Arkhangelsk). It should be noted that this name was invented by the townspeople.
This name and the protagonist of the park - Gostinets cat - became its highlight. The four-legged, famous today in the city, flaunts on the institution's logo, park rules, and various advertisements. And children really like to be photographed with a huge life-size puppet of the Hotel, which constantly walks around the park and gives visitors positive emotions.
Park today
In 2006, a new leader came to the park - V.S. Khotenovsky. From this moment on, the “Funny Court” (Arkhangelsk) began to develop actively. Outdated rides began to give way to new, beautiful and modern designs. In 2012, Poteshniy Dvor won the annual Crystal Wheel competition among parks with visits from 100 to 250 thousand people a year.
In 2013, the Poteshniy Dvor park (Arkhangelsk) became the owner of its own book, Adventures of the Cat of the Hotel, the main character of which was the famous murky.
In 2015, the park received the international Golden Pony Awards. The management pays great attention to the landscaping and improvement of the territory. Nowadays, almost all paths and alleys are lined with paving stones, beautiful lawns and flowerbeds have appeared, bushes have been planted, attractions have beautiful wrought-iron fences.
Children from boarding schools and orphanages ride attractions for free. In the summer, various contests and interesting cultural events are held for visitors. The administration strives to make visiting the park for adults and young guests not only ride on rides, but also give guests joy, positive emotions and a bright sense of celebration.
Rides
Today, the "Funny Court" (Arkhangelsk) is very popular. The working hours are convenient for visits - from 11.00 to 21.00 daily. Twenty attractions - children's and family, as well as extreme ones - have already been created for guests of the park.
Super Twist
Family extreme attraction, designed for 12 passengers, who are accommodated in two gondolas. They rotate along the vertical axis at the highest point of rise.
"Flying saucer"
Designed for adults and children (above 1.4 m). These extreme people will be able to fly into space. The plate rises 90 degrees and rotates around its axis.
Carousel "Big Top"
The attraction is a good attraction for children and adults. "Shapito" can be visited by young guests from 80 cm tall (accompanied by adults). This attraction is made in Italy by special order. This is an exclusive set of various figures - horses and lions, tigers and a kangaroo, ostriches and carriages in the form of pumpkins.
For the smallest visitors amusement rides were created: “Train”, “Sailor”, “Kangaroo” and others.
Park Rules
Amusement park "Poteshny Dvor" in Arkhangelsk has a number of simple rules that the administration asks to observe:
- it is forbidden to visit the territory while intoxicated or alcoholic;
- drink alcohol (including cocktails and beer);
- smoking is prohibited in the park;
- pets are not welcome.
In addition, the park administration appeals to guests with a convincing request to comply with the rules of conduct:

Visitors reviews
Citizens respond very warmly about the Poteshniy Dvor park, considering it the best place for families. They note that it is always clean here, the greenery is well-groomed, the bushes are cut. Many people like that in recent years there have been not only new attractions, but also an excellent recreation area.
There are some minor complaints among the reviews. First of all, this concerns the rather high cost of tickets. Many believe that the time has come to expand the territory, as there are more and more visitors every year, and often a crowd is created. Parents of babies up to three years old believe that there could be more attractions for their children.
Among the reviews there are also recommendations. For example, some visitors believe that it’s good to attract animators who will work with children while parents test themselves on attractions for adults.
