In the genus of Buddley, there are more than a hundred species of flowering semi-evergreen and deciduous plants. The homeland of these shrubs is considered to be subtropical and tropical latitudes, that is, South Africa, Asia and America. Absolutely all types of plants are thermophilic, therefore, only the awakening of David was able to adapt to the climatic conditions of the middle zone. Despite the frost resistance, the bush requires special care and good shelter for the winter. This species comes from China, where it grows near the mountains and along the banks of rivers.
David’s buddy is also called “autumn lilac”, because its flowers are very similar to the inflorescences of the spring bush known to all of us. At the age of three, the plant blooms for the first time - this occurs in August or September, and lasts a month and a half. Spike inflorescences come in many different shades: white, blue, blue, pink, purple, violet, yellow. The honey aroma of flowers spreads around, attracting a variety of insects, which is why bees and butterflies can always be seen near the buddha.
Since the plant is exotic, it requires special care. David's buddy prefers windproof sunny places with
fertile soil. It is best to choose sandy soil in which lime must first be added. If the soil is heavy, you should add as much peat, sand and humus as possible, as well as often loosen the soil. In the middle lane, the buddley grows in the form of a shrub, the stems of which grow up to 2 m in height. In winter, the ground part completely dies, and in the spring it wakes up again and quickly grows, in order to release fragrant racemose inflorescences in autumn.
These flowers require special attention and care from gardeners. David's Buddle is known for active growth, which begins in early spring. Throughout the season, several times the bush should be fed with mineral fertilizers. The plant does not tolerate drought , so at high temperatures it must be watered twice a day. After flowering is complete, the shoots are cut to the root, and with the arrival of the first frosts, the bush is mulched with spruce branches, dry leaves or peat, which will protect against frost. In the spring, when warming occurs, the shelter is removed so that the kidneys do not protrude.
Very easy to propagate buddha David. Growing from seeds does not present any special difficulties, although they are very small, they germinate quickly and without preliminary preparation. Seeds ripen in October, sown in a box with soil, it needs a greenhouse or greenhouse in the spring. The seeds are small, so it is best to sprinkle them with turfy soil or humus. The boxes are covered with foil, ventilated and sprayed with water 3 times a week. Shoots appear in a half month, in extreme cases, after a month.
