When performing repairs, you will have to evaluate the quality of walls, floors and ceilings. Sometimes it takes a lot of effort to eliminate existing irregularities and curvature. To do this, use several different methods. The choice of a specific method for eliminating surface defects is determined by their size. If the unevenness of the walls or ceilings is insignificant, not more than five centimeters, then it is quite possible to dispense with their plastering. A so-called plaster lighthouse helps to qualitatively perform such an operation.

This somewhat unusual name has a special profile that is mounted on the wall. Mounting is performed in such a way that its upper edge forms an even plane. Focusing on the lighthouse for plaster, leveling the surface. For this, the applied layer of the mixture is leveled using a special rule. The latter moves along established lighthouses. The result is a flat plane. After plastering is completed, the beacons themselves are not removed. They are usually covered with a layer of plaster. Therefore, only galvanized steel products must be used.
With this organization of work, the fastening of beacons for plaster is of decisive importance. To perform such a procedure, it is necessary to ensure the creation of a flat surface along the upper edge of the profile. To do this, it is aligned in vertical and horizontal planes using a plumb line and level.
The lighthouse itself can be fixed in several ways. They can
fasten using self-tapping screws in pre-installed dowels using special clips or using a quick setting mortar based on gypsum. In this case, small βcakesβ of the mixture are applied to the surface at an insignificant distance from each other. A beacon for plaster is pressed into them, the position of which is leveled with the help of a level.
The installation step is fifty centimeters. Such installation of beacons under the plaster allows them to be used as guides along which, by moving the rule, it is possible to even out a layer of plaster previously applied to the surface. It should be noted that although this technology of preparing the surface for plastering allows to obtain its high quality, the installation of beacons itself takes a lot of time and requires considerable experience.
When carrying out such work, the main attention must be paid to monitoring the position of the plane formed by the beacons relative to the wall. Firstly, it should hide all defects of the surface on which the plaster is applied (potholes, protrusions, wall curvature). Secondly, the layer of material applied to the walls or ceiling in this case should not be excessively large. In this case, there will be an additional consumption of the mixture and a decrease in the overall strength of the applied coating.
The plaster lighthouse should be considered as one of the main elements of the work phase related to the preparation of the surface for the finish coating. Proper installation of these elements allows you to get a high-quality surface suitable for the subsequent implementation of any type of finish. At the same time, it is possible to save plaster spent on leveling the walls, and reduce the overall cost of the work.
