Your favorite winter holiday is approaching, and it's time to think about how to sew dresses for your little princesses. New Year is a time of wonderful transformations. In the costume of Princess Sofia it is so easy to become a beauty from the Disney cartoon!
Cooking fabric and decorations
We offer to sew a dress for the princess from the cartoon "Sofia is Beautiful." The dress is easy to sew in four evenings. It is decorated with shiny braid. On the back there is a zipper. The kit also includes a petticoat.
The dress will take about one and a half meters of lilac fabric. You can take satin or crepe satin.
A little more than one meter of white fabric will be required on the lower skirt. Also satin or crepe satin. And the same amount of capron for the petticoat.
For lining, take a lilac or white cotton fabric. Approximately 30-35 cm. The width of the fabrics is usually 110 cm.
You will need: shiny braid (can be taken with sequins) - 5-6 m, rhinestones to decorate the top - 5-6 pieces, zipper for fasteners on the back - 30 cm.
From the specified amount of fabric and materials, you can sew the costume of Princess Sofia for a girl of 4-6 years old, 110-116 cm tall.
Sew the top of the dress
We transfer a top pattern from a t-shirt. Do not forget to add 1.5 cm to the seams and fastener. We cut out two sets of parts according to the pattern - from satin fabric and calico.
Sew separately satin top and calico. Then we connect the front and lining parts, stitching the neck.
On the seam allowance, small cuts should be made at a distance of 1.5–2 cm from each other so that the cutout of the dress fits rather than puffs.
Then we take up the sleeves. We cut out two leaf-shaped details from the main lilac fabric. We process the edge of the sleeves with a hem. We bend the edges of the armhole inward, inserting a sleeve between the layers of fabric. All three layers must be sewn together. We repeat the same thing on the other hand.
Mittens can be made and others that you like. Here is the first fitting. We put on the top of the daughter and designate a place for lightning. We will sew it in later.
We collect the bottom of the dress
We take on the lower skirt of the costume of Princess Sofia. From the white main fabric we cut out a strip measuring 70 x 220 cm. Or two strips of 70 x 110 cm. To the bottom we sew a satin ribbon of lilac color six centimeters wide. If you cannot find a suitable ribbon of the desired width, you can cut a strip of lilac fabric. Bend the edges and tune to white fabric. Sew a white strip on the sides. We process the hem with a hem.
For the main skirt, we cut out four details in the form of oblong petals from lilac fabric. And from the white fabric we cut out four patterns - a flower. This is a characteristic highlight of the costume of Princess Sofia.
If you sew from satin fabric, then the edges need to be treated with a flame so that the fabric does not crumble. Stitch white patterns on each lilac petal of the skirt. You can also decorate them with rhinestones or braid.
We cut all four petals of the upper skirt. Do not forget to burn the bottom edge with flame. Decorate with a shiny braid.
There was one more part of the skirt. From the lilac fabric we cut two rectangles 40x22 cm in size. We round them at two corners. We burn the edges and sew the shiny braid to the rounded side.
Sew all three layers of the skirt in the belt. Make sure the top of the triple skirt matches the bottom of the top. We connect the top of the dress with the skirt. We sew in a zipper, decorate the neck and top of the dress with braid and rhinestones.
Add splendor
Under such a dress we sew a magnificent petticoat. It can be with rings remade from an adult wedding dress. And you can sew a skirt assembled on an elastic band from kapron or tulle. She cuts and sews just like a white skirt.
