In our country there are such cities that you should visit at least once in your life. One of those is the oldest Russian city of Murom. It occupies a picturesque place on the banks of the Oka River and belongs to the Vladimir region, adjacent to the Nizhny Novgorod region. The distance to the regional center is 137 kilometers. The main reason why thousands of tourists come to the city of Murom is the sights, most of which are concentrated on the banks of the Oka.

One of the most attractive buildings is the Transfiguration Monastery, which is the oldest in Russia. According to legend, the prince’s yard, owned by Prince Gleb, was once located on the site of the monastery. In this courtyard was the village Spasskaya Church. When a monastery was built nearby, it was called Spassky na Bor. For a long time he performed the defensive functions of Murom. Many times it was destroyed and restored. At the moment, there is a man’s monastery located in one of the first places in the list of “Attractions of Murom”. A little north of the monastery stands the refectory church of the Protection of the Virgin, dated to the 17th century. In the old part of the city there are living rooms of the 19th century. It is from here that an excellent view of the Trinity Monastery opens.

In the middle of the XVII century, the Holy Trinity Cathedral was built on the savings of the local merchant Tarasi Borisov. A little later, he received permission from the patriarch to build a convent. As a result, the Church of Our Lady of Kazan was built, and a bell tower was built next to it. An extraordinary solution to the tent composition is inherent in the Kazan Church. And its proportions are so elegant that it seems that the entire structure is carved from a single monolithic piece. The building is decorated with numerous arches. One of the most interesting parts of the building is the porch, located above the stone tents on the west side of the building.
Considering the sights of Murom, one can not fail to note the Annunciation Monastery, founded in the middle of the XVI century. The six-tier iconostasis, which is made in the Baroque style, is still preserved here. Here are collected old icons dating back to the 16th and 17th centuries. The interior of the temple is made in accordance with the style of the iconostasis.
At this point, the sights of Murom do not end, but only begin. Among the most popular buildings, one can distinguish the Church of the Ascension of the Lord, which currently has two chapels that join the facade of the main building. The building has five chapters and a high tented bell tower. The temple has preserved several ancient icons, the silver salaries of which are decorated with precious stones.
The city of Murom, whose sights can be listed endlessly, is famous not only for temples and monasteries. There are many other attractive architectural structures, such as a water tower. There is one legend about the construction of this structure. She talks about the fact that once, while inspecting the city, Alexey Vasilyevich met one woman who carried water in buckets on the yoke. She climbed a steep mountain and was very tired, which she told Ermakova about. He felt sorry for this woman, and he ordered the construction of a water supply system in the city. So there was a water tower.
However, the sights of Murom are not only architectural monuments and structures. A huge number of interesting museums have been opened here, among which the Cyber Museum, which appeared in 1995, cannot be noted. The museum exposition is divided into several topics. In addition, here are stands consisting of personal collections. It is recommended to visit the Museum "Bread Room" and the Murom Historical and Art Museum.
