What endova can be made of
Endova is a very important structural element of the roof. Therefore, special requirements are imposed on the material used for its manufacture. Of course, he, first of all, should not let water through. Strength, corrosion resistance and durability are also important qualities in this case. That is why experts do not recommend the use of metalplastic or polyvinyl chloride for the device endov. These materials are easy to install, but are unlikely to last too long. Usually galvanized sheet is used to make endows. On many old houses you can also see this element made of corrugated cardboard.
Today, very often special metal strips are used to make endows. The device of the valley, made of them, is somewhat more complicated than the usual construction. The lower one, in fact, removes water from the roof. It is usually mounted if the joint has a negative angle. The upper endova serves to a large extent as a decorative element of the roof.
Purpose and types of endows
Endova is an element through which not only water flows, but snow also rolls. As a result, the material used for cladding skates does not deteriorate, and the roof itself does not leak. In modern construction, only three main varieties of endows are used: closed, intertwined and open.
Rafter system
In the event that the roof lathing is made solid, the gutter is laid on additionally fixed strips. In this case, the bottom of the valley is lined with a special thermal film. If the crate is not continuous and covered with a membrane, then the boards are filled so that the width of the resulting support from the side of each slope is approximately 35 cm. At the same time, a membrane tape is laid along the gutter, on which the main membrane is laid. Connect them using double-sided tape. Under the control plates, put a sealing tape and fix them.
Installation of a valley
The tin intended for upholstery of the valley must be matched to the color of the base material used for roofing. Sheets are joined in a way overlay. The lap width should be at least twenty centimeters. Very often, the tin plate of the valley is fixed to the roof using self-tapping screws. This is acceptable but undesirable. In this case, water will enter the fastening places, which will reduce the service life of the gutter and the roof itself. Endova is a very important element, and therefore it is best to be safe and secure it on special braces.
The top of the gutter is cut along the ridge from above and along the edge of the roof from below. In this case, 10 cm protrusions should be left for bending. The junction of the valley with the slopes must be sealed using a self-adhesive tape. A drainpipe is installed under the valley . The width of the gutter depends mainly on its length. For a four-meter valley, 25 cm on both slopes will be enough. In the event that the gutter consists of several elements, their installation must begin from the bottom. The overlap of horizontal joints in this case should be at least 10 cm.
How to fasten roofing material to the lower valley
The metal profile or metal tile at the joints is cut from top to bottom so that the edges of the sheets do not reach the axis of the valley by about ten centimeters. For their fastening use staples or screws. The latter is screwed at a distance of at least 25 cm from the axis of the gutter. When installing a profiled sheet, the step between the screws is done in one wave.
The tile is mounted in such a way that the edges of the elements do not reach the axis of the valley by about five centimeters. Marking is preliminarily made, and then each element is cut using a diamond wheel. After trimming, the end edges of the tiles need to be tinted, their color should coincide with the main one. In the element thus prepared, holes are drilled in the upper part of the lock. A wire is drawn through them, with the help of which the tile is attached to the crate. At the final stage, the upper valley is established. Under it, put a self-adhesive sealing tape.
How to bend a valley
The roof endova can be made of a wide strip of galvanized sheet, bent along at the required angle, the value of which depends on the angle of inclination of the roof slopes. In any case, the edges of the gutter should also be bent outward. Due to this, water will not flow under them.
Endova is a significant element of the roof. The tightness of the roof as a whole depends on how correctly it is installed. Therefore, all installation work must be carried out with strict adherence to all applicable technologies.
