Electricity has long been our constant companion and faithful helper. It is difficult to imagine how our recent ancestors could do without this useful invention of mankind.
But to control it, certain knowledge is needed. This is especially true for wiring and sockets. But the question of how to connect the two-key switch correctly can confuse even a relatively experienced home master. Letβs try to describe this process in more detail.
Some tips
The electric wire mechanism is connected in two ways: clamps and self-tightening terminals. A screw clamp is known to everyone who has dealt with Soviet and cheap Chinese "electrics": the bare ends of the wires are inserted into a special connector, after which they are clamped with screws.
Before connecting a two-gang switch (more precisely, before purchasing it), be sure to make sure that the wires are not attached in it!
The fact is that over time the screw connections loose, so they must be checked from time to time. In a device with terminals, there are simply no such problems.
Product Features
Recently, manufacturers have increasingly seen modular designs. Since it is somewhat simpler to connect a two-gang switch of the usual modification, we will consider the installation principle of the modular type.
Before starting work
You should definitely familiarize yourself with the connection diagram. As a rule, modern manufacturers attach it to devices, but we will outline the principle of its operation for clarity.
In general, under one lid is a pair of ordinary single switches, the principle of operation of which is known to everyone since school. Zero and ground must be directly connected to the luminaires, while the phase must necessarily pass through the switch itself.
What you need to install
Having determined how to connect a two-key switch, make sure that you have the required minimum of tools, without which it will be extremely difficult to work. However, there you just need nothing: an ordinary Phillips screwdriver, a flat screwdriver with a phase indicator, a knife and pliers. Aesthetes may need a level.
Getting to work
Of course, we will say the most commonplace things in the world, but check again if you turned off the electricity! Even after this, be sure to check that there is no current in place. You need to do this, not only having studied well how to connect the two-key switch correctly, but also for any electrical work.
As usual, we prepare the wires in the junction box, shortening and stripping them of the insulation layer if necessary. If you remember, such switches use a three-wire system at once.
From their ends, you need to remove the insulation (about a centimeter), and then shove them into the terminals. The phase must be placed in the βLβ socket, and the other two (usually blue and yellow) in the other two holes, being guided by the arrows on the inside of the device, pointing towards the fixtures you need.
Given that the modules are two conventional switches, they are connected by jumper from a small piece of wire.
Before you connect the two-gang switch "Legrand" (or made in another foreign company), carefully study the circuit!
