A knitted women's sweater is a convenient and versatile wardrobe item. Strictly speaking, a jacket should be called clothes with a fastener for the upper body. However, in everyday life they call it anything: pullovers, tops, cardigans.
A classic jacket is knitted from warm yarn, has sleeves and pockets, but today this model is not too popular. Therefore, the craftswomen are engaged in the manufacture of products from wool or cotton, and also often choose sleeveless models. This article will discuss the options for creating several sweaters that correspond to different levels of knitting skills: primary, secondary, high.
Simple jacket with front stitch
Front and back loops are the basics that all beginners learn. In principle, if they are going to realize just a few small products, then they may not bother with more complicated tricks. Many patterns are based on a combination of these two types of loops. The simplest is the front surface (the odd rows are the front, the even rows are the wrong). This knitting was used in the manufacture of the next model.
The two-tone knitted women's jacket is made of medium-thick cotton thread (250-300 m / 100 grams). The designer decided to do without sleeves, and the fastener was transferred to the back part, but if desired, the model can be supplemented or slightly changed.
How to tie a sweater?
For work, you need yarn in two contrasting colors, knitting needles, the size of which corresponds to the thickness of the thread, and five to six small buttons. As a rule, for a jacket of 44-46th size, 350-400 grams of material is enough.
Before proceeding to knitting, you should perform a control sample and calculate the number of loops per 10 cm of fabric. This will help to dial the correct number of loops and form a part of the right size.
The figure below shows a drawing of the pattern and indicates all the necessary dimensions in centimeters.
Begin work with threads of a darker color. Having knitted 40% of the fabric, you need to enter a second yarn and perform alternation: two rows of the same color, two rows of the second. The striped area can be very small, or it can be made quite wide. The upper part of each part is made with light yarn.
Model Features
This women's jacket, knitted with needles, is very easy to manufacture, but there are several important points that you need to pay attention to:
- The first 5-7 rows of each part should be knitted with a garter stitch (all rows are performed with facial loops). This strap will not allow the canvas to curl into a tube.
- When working on the details of the back, you should form a bar for buttons in parallel with knitting the main fabric. To do this, several loops on the right (or left) side are always knit with the front ones. It should be remembered that on the bar of one of the parts there should be loops. The hole for the small buttons is performed as follows: two (three) loops are closed, and in the next row they are double-crocheted. It turns out a hole, and the number of loops in the bar remains.
- The armholes and neck are also decorated with garter stitch. The armholes are connected in parallel with the main canvas. The tying of the neck can be performed in the process of working on the parts or connected after all the fabrics are sewn. In the second case, loops are knitted along the cut using circular knitting needles and several rows are knitted with a garter pattern.
- An alternative method of strapping is the processing of all open edges with a crochet: single crochet, βhand stepβ, openwork border.
Women's sweater (knitting) with a description of the "wave" pattern
The blouse depicted in the next photo is completely different.
Here, work begins with a set of loops for the neck. By and large, this is a kind of raglan, but the addition of loops does not occur at four points of the canvas, but along the entire length of the row. To get such a knitted women's jacket, a craftswoman must be able to perform more complex (than at the initial stage) manipulations with loops. The pattern proposed by the developers already contains all the necessary applications, so the knitter just needs to read the diagram correctly and follow the instructions when working.

Empty cells are facial loops, x are purl, oblique line is two loops knitted together, an oval is a crochet. When the coquette is ready, that is, its length will be equal to the depth of the armhole, stop knitting. Then you need to work only with the front and back canvas, freely closing the loop of the sleeves. Later these sections will need to be crocheted. The loops of the parts remaining on the needles are combined in one row and continue to knit until the blouse reaches the desired length.
In this case, you should work on a new scheme, because the canvas will no longer need to be added. If all the recommendations are implemented correctly, then you should get a
lace jacket (knitting) for women. The photo below allows you to appreciate the beauty of the pattern and the practicality of the model.
Blouse with a sleeve, knitted pattern "spikelets"
To make such a product, the craftswoman needs to be able to perform all the basic techniques described in the previous paragraphs, and also have the ability to calculate loops. It is extremely important to place patterned stripes symmetrically on the details of the front and back. In addition, the knitter will have to show some tenacity and perseverance in the manufacturing process of all parts, their steaming and stitching. Quite rarely, blooming and dressing can be avoided, especially when forming a sleeve ridge and armhole.
Preparatory stage
First of all, you need to make a pattern in size so that you can apply a knitted fabric to it. Next, you need to knit a control sample and make a loop calculation. And finally, it is worth checking the thread for shrinkage: wash and dry the sample. If its size has decreased, then this should be taken into account when calculating the loops. Simply put, it is worth measuring the already washed and dried fragment.
Any knitted women's jacket will be both beautiful and functional when using yarn with natural fibers (wool, cotton, mohair). For this model, a thread with a thickness of not more than 300 m / 100 grams is suitable.
Beginning of work
After a set of loops, you need to knit about five centimeters with a spikelet pattern, the diagram of which is given below.
Here it is necessary to carefully monitor the number of loops, since in the first row of the rapport, new elements (crochets) are added, and they are reduced only in the third.
After the formation of the pattern strip, it is necessary to switch to the front surface. This knitting is often used as a background for a variety of ornaments. Do not forget that when working on the shelves, you need to parallel knit the button plackets.
The upper part of the back and front details is decorated with a βspikeletβ pattern, but the sleeve ends with a front smooth surface.
How to form a okat?
Many knitters have difficulty knitting the semicircular part of the sleeve - okat. There are several tricks that will significantly reduce and simplify the process:
- It is necessary to start contractions by simultaneously closing several loops: from the front by 5 cm, from the back by 3 cm.
- Then 30% of the knit is knitted, cutting two loops in each front row (at the beginning and at the end).
- The next 40% should be knitted evenly, without any reduction.
- Then 20% perform the same reductions as at the beginning of the okat (two loops through a row).
- In the process of working on the last 10%, it is necessary to close 6 loops in each row (three at the beginning and the same at the end). If the thread is thick, the last step can be only two or three rows. In the case when the yarn is thin, more rows will be required.
These simple recommendations allow you to create the right silhouettes, thanks to which women's sweaters, knitted with needles, ideally "sit" on the figure.
On average, the sleeve ridge for the 44-46th size is about 18 cm. Of course, if the craftswoman works with thick thread, the canvas will be quite rigid, so that the ridge should be at least 20-22 cm.
At the final stage, all parts of the product are steamed from the iron and stitched together. Do not forget about the rules for caring for woolen things: they are washed only in warm water (no more than 30 degrees) and dried in a horizontal position. This information will be important for those who are mistaken for women's knitted sweaters (knitting), with a description or on their own project.
