One of the most unusual places in the Ukrainian capital is Kyoto Park in Kiev. You can find a photo of this wonderful green corner, as well as a short story about it in our article.
Park location
Park "Kyoto" is located on the left bank of Kiev, in the Desnyanskiy district.
To get here, you need to take the red metro line and get to the station. "Chernihiv" or to the "Forest". The territory of the park stretched for more than a kilometer just between these two stations. It is best to go to Lesnaya in the direction of Kyoto Street of the same name, turn left and walk a few hundred meters past the shopping center.
Kyoto Park is located near the lively Brovarsky Prospekt, but the noise of cars does not interfere with enjoying the local beauties.
How and when did the park appear?
Little "Japan" appeared in the heart of an Eastern European state in 1972. The reason for the creation of a recreational area was to establish friendly diplomatic relations between Ukraine and the Japanese city of Kyoto, as well as the signing of the document.
Kyoto Park in Kiev was created in the traditional Japanese style by craftsmen from the Land of the Rising Sun. Tall slender pines, Japanese maples and, of course, sakura grow here!
Masters tried to make the Kiev park as similar as possible to traditional Japanese gardens. Here you can see the 5-meter pagoda - an exact reduced copy of the Kyoto monument. According to the basics of Buddhism, the pagoda has a beneficial effect on the surrounding area. By the way, she was transferred to Kiev as a gift from Japan. There is also its own "Fuji" in the park - this is a small artificially sprinkled hill with a miniature stone garden.
Park "Kyoto" - a peaceful corner of the Ukrainian capital, an excellent place to relax and restore peace of mind. There is a small pond with three charming bridges, as well as a waterfall shaded by trees. There are several objects in the park that will not be told to an ordinary Kiev citizen, but for a real Japanese, they are sacred. This, for example, is a guardian stone, or a stone of moonlight.
Kyoto Park - in the Guinness Book of Records
In September 2011, a sakura alley was planted in the park. The event was dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the establishment of friendly relations between the Ukrainian capital and the Japanese city. It was attended by representatives of the delegation from Japan, including the mayor of Kyoto. Sakura (or pink cherry), as you know, is a sacred plant for every resident of this country, and admiring its flowering is an integral part of Japanese culture.
The organizers of this event planned that the planted alley will become one of the longest in Europe. However, the result exceeded their expectations: Kyoto Park got into the prestigious Guinness Book of Records.
The world record was held a year later. Sakura Alley in Kiev was officially recognized as the longest on the planet! Representatives of the commission counted 360 seedlings of this beautiful plant in it.
