Sadovaya metro station is on the 5th line.
This station of the Frunze-Primorsky line is unique in its own way; it is an important element of a large interchange hub in the city center. In addition to Sadovaya, the interchange center is formed by 2 more stations - Sennaya Ploshchad and Spasskaya.
History
The station began work on the New 1992 year.
The architects Kashikhin, Pribulsky, Popov, Khilchenko, Podervyanskaya, Leontiev developed the project.
During the design, it was supposed to give the new transport hub the name βPeace Square-3β, but then they decided to rename it along Sadovaya Street located at the top.
"Sadovaya" is the metro station, the oldest on its line. By the end of 1991, the station, erected at a depth of 71 m, was already ready, but the neighboring Spasskaya was far from commissioning, so it was decided to temporarily connect the Sadovaya to the Right Bank line.
For 18 years, Sadovaya worked as a terminal on the Right Bank line. Until now, service branches lead to lines 4 and 2 (on the metro stations Dostoevskaya, Nevsky Prospekt).
An interesting feature of the Sadovaya metro station is that it does not have access to the surface. Pass into the subway at pedestrian crossings, where there are trade pavilions.
Architecture
Sadovaya metro station (St. Petersburg) was created in the traditional single-vault construction concept for the subway of the northern capital. But this is the only station in the city equipped with two exits that are located at the ends of the underground hall.
From the north side you can go up the stairs, then go through the tunnel passage to the escalators. Lifts deliver to the surface within 2 minutes.
On the other hand, itβs convenient to go to art. m. "Sennaya square".
In the center of the island platform there is a staircase that goes up the tunnel, it leads to escalator lifts at the station. m. "Spasskaya".
Decor
The Sadovaya metro station is designed in the general style of the St. Petersburg Metro.
Restrained strict beauty is emphasized at the station with a muted shade of red granite, which decorates the floor and walls. The inserted strips of gray granite dilute the overall gamut.
A white marble frieze, decorated with monograms similar to old bronze curls, adorns the track wall.
50 arc-shaped lanterns provide pleasant diffused lighting in the underground hall, they are located on the edges of the station platform.
Traditionally, for the architecture of this type of station, a granite bench and an information desk were installed in the center. But in 2010, after the reconstruction, navigation lightboxes were installed that do not support the general style of the hall.
Transplantation
At the Sadovaya metro station, it is convenient to transfer to the 2nd and 4th lines.
