An outsider is ... Understanding the concept

Quite often we hear the word “outsider”. This is not surprising, because we live in a society that, as you know, is very heterogeneous. There is a place in it for leaders and average personalities, and, of course, for outcasts.

an outsider is

Probably, there have always been, are and will be those who, for one reason or another, did not fit into the team. These people are even scientifically designated. So, an outsider is an individual who, due to a variety of circumstances, appears to be squeezed out of the society in which he exists.

Why do such people appear? Remember, in your class there was almost certainly one who was bullied either morally or, which is especially scary, physically. So what is the reason for this attitude towards a person? The fact is that each layer of society is divided into even smaller layers (or niches), in which a certain number of places are allocated to people with different statuses. For example, there is always a place to be such a social group as the "elite." At school, these are usually girls and boys from wealthy families. There is also the so-called "middle peasant" - children who are not particularly remarkable, who are in good relations with classmates and teachers. And, of course, a special place is reserved for outsiders. It is curious that they cannot be at all. However, the number of more than three also has no right to life, because such a society will immediately be recognized as a "bunch of losers."

outsider value
If, for one reason or another, the outsider dropped out of the team, someone else would immediately take his place. Why? Children's (and adult) values are quite rarely humane. An outsider is one at the expense of whom everyone else feels better, "higher." They realize that they have a certain number of shortcomings (not very smart, pretty, physically developed, etc.), and therefore they just need to know that there is someone worse than them.

Do the rogue have any similar symptoms? How to determine with the greatest probability that a person (child or adult) is a typical outsider? There is no definite answer to these questions. However, as a rule, these are people with physical disabilities, closed, not having strong abilities in any way. That is, they are initially victims. On the other hand, there are cases when the reason for a negative attitude is, on the contrary, extraordinary abilities. That is why rogues often include excellent students.

geniuses and outsiders
According to statistics, the most frequent guest of a school psychologist is an outsider. The importance of communicating with such a child as a qualified doctor is difficult to overestimate. In the process of training, a lot of time should be devoted to identifying his strengths, correcting weaknesses, as well as applying various kinds of exercises so that he can mentally relax.

Despite the fact that an outsider is mainly a problem of the collective, which consists of individuals of school age, both in higher educational institutions and at work, this phenomenon is also quite widespread.

Those who care or are simply interested in a problem that we have only outlined in the article, I would like to advise you to read one book. It is called "Geniuses and Outsiders" (author - M. Gladwell). We hope that it will help you understand many issues, as well as become stronger.
