90s Gum: Boomer, Tipitip, Bombibom, Turbo, Donald

For many people, the taste of gum from the 90s is still remembered. Some are even willing to overpay for such chewing gum, if only to return this taste of distant childhood. And this is not surprising, because in the 90s chewing gum was special, with a wonderful aroma and unforgettable taste. Interestingly, they made it without the addition of chemical components. Such a product can even be called natural.

This desire is not surprising, because, probably, it seemed to everyone that everything was much better in childhood. At the same time, money was rarely given to children, parents gave a penny only for what was needed. Therefore, it was almost impossible to buy chewing gum. For many, buying chewing gum was a real holiday. In this article, 6 brands of chewing gum that were released in the Soviet years will be mentioned.

Donald Chewing Gum

Chewing gum "Donald" appeared on store shelves back in the 80s. It was one of the very first chewing gum. According to legend, this chewing gum was distributed only through gypsies who did it illegally. Moreover, they sold it only to children and at an unpleasant price - one gum cost a ruble. At that time, the price was high enough for regular chewing gum.

Reason for popularity

Gum "Donald" was special in its own way, because it had a comic book about a duck named Donald in the middle of the package. This cartoon was still unknown in the USSR, but at the same time it was very interesting to the guys, because they have not seen such yet. Many even collected entire collections from comics and added stories about duck.

Based on this, most guys bought chewing gum only because of the liner. Soviet children owe their collections to Maple Leaf, a company producing this chewing gum. It was this company that managed to conclude a contract with Disney. After that, the use of cartoon characters for comics was allowed. This tandem turned out to be very productive and became almost the key to a happy Soviet childhood.

The last release of chewing gums was in 1989, the party dispersed very quickly. But their place was taken by the no less popular dragee.

In 1990, Maple Leaf decided to make another attempt to produce its legendary chewing gum. But at the same time there were inserts, the packaging also changed. Unfortunately, this did not end with success, but for some time, chewing gums were released all over the world. By 1990, the company ceased to exist, and no one else saw such chewing gum.

Chewing gum called Turbo

For its first years, Turbo chewing gum came out with a very pleasant peach flavor. Subsequent years, other fruit flavors were also created, but peach still remained the most popular. This chewing gum was made by one of the Turkish companies under the name Kent Gida. The package in the middle had a liner depicting popular cars and motorcycles. Thanks to these inserts, chewing gum has gained immense popularity among adolescents and children, who also collected collections and decorated stickers for their notebooks and other items.

In 1995, production was expanded, and chewing gum was already available in three versions (Turbo Super, Turbo Classic and Turbo Sport). The difference was in the theme of the liners: each line provided its own cars. This chewing gum is produced today, but already by several companies. There is competition. But still on the shelves you can still find products similar to those same chewing gum of the 90s.

Bombibom Chewing Gum

Bombibom chewing gum is also of Turkish origin. Only another company, called Baycan Gida, was already engaged in production. This type of chewing gum was produced only during the 90s, in the same years the company was closed. But, despite the crisis, chewing gum was able to gain its popularity. Chewing gum had a fairly wide range of tastes. Most often it was possible to meet a delicacy with a chocolate flavor, chewing gum with the taste of melon, apple and, of course, classic mint was no less popular. The people called chewing gum very simply - β€œbomb”.

This chewing gum also had picture inserts inside, here the company was not original, and we can say that it took its idea from Turbo. Inside were pictures of cars of different brands. In particular, these gum was loved by Soviet boys. Collections were also made, but not for long, because the corporation lasted a short time. The most popular was the first release of chewing gum. He had a pronounced taste of melon, and the chewing gum itself perfectly stretched, it was possible to inflate huge bubbles.

Love is chewing gum

Gum of the 90s was remembered by another Turkish miracle under the sweet name Love is. It is amazing that this particular chewing gum has not lost its popularity today. Until now, these chewing gums can be found on store shelves. Boys in love buy them for their girls, and the kids just collect funny comics with beautiful phrases. In the early years of release, such a romantic chewing gum was of interest exclusively to girls. Boys rarely paid attention to β€œvanilla” statements, the only thing that could attract them was the gum itself, which made excellent bubbles. Inside each chewing gum there was a special insert on which a young man and his girlfriend were depicted. At the top of the insert there was a humorous and at the same time sweet statement about love and relationships.

Love is a celebration of taste

Chewing gum differed from the rest in its tastes. Surprisingly, there were many, and at the same time they were paired. It was even very symbolic. Namely, among the tastes were: strawberry-banana, orange-pineapple, coconut-pineapple, cherry-lemon, apple-lemon. The author of the famous drawings of a guy and a girl was an artist named Bill Esprey. It is amazing that for many years the author did not even know that his works were used for such a popular brand. It turned out quite by accident in 2008, one journalist wished to interview a celebrity, after which he became aware of the course of events.

Tipitip chewing gum

Many people still remember this chewing gum with a smile on their faces. On the inserts of this brand an eccentric was depicted, who had a huge nose, bow-tie or a funny tie, and was also wearing glasses. It was the liners that were the most valuable. But, unfortunately, the inscription was in Turkish, and, as you know, the Soviet children did not know him. But still, they found a way to decipher the inscription and learn a new funny joke. The brand was created in the 70s. He got to Soviet children in the 80s, and already in the 90s ceased to exist. It was regrettable enough to lose such a funny chewing gum with such funny earbuds.

Chewing gum Boomer

The name of this brand was marked by a superhero from Spain. He had a rather unusual appearance, his limbs were plastic, and on each insert he was sure to save someone. But in this chewing gum, surprisingly, Soviet children appreciated not the picture itself, but chewing gum. The thing is that it was from her that the largest bubbles were obtained. The flavor spectrum was also large - from fruit flavors to Coca-Cola. Today Boomer is a chewing gum that is produced in certain countries, but it is not on the shelves of our stores.

Well, such a small excursion inspired pleasant memories from Soviet childhood. Today, some of these products can still be purchased in private stores. But, unfortunately, they are not in a wide range and probably will not be anymore. Although some buyers are willing to pay a lot of money to plunge again in those days. And perhaps even some still have collections of earbuds that harbor the scent of 90s gum.
