Bulk floor: consumption will justify the quality!

The modern market for the production of practical materials offers us all new functional ways to equip your home. The bulk floor is becoming a very popular type of coating due to its functionality. Such material has many advantages, a significant disadvantage is only the high cost. A bulk floor, the consumption of the necessary materials for the implementation of which can be calculated quite accurately, will serve you for many years.

Preparing the floor

Before you start pouring, you need to prepare the correct rough coating. The smoothness of the future floor and the consumption of material will depend on this. If irregularities exist, they must be removed with a rotary hammer. Carefully cover all large cracks and cracks, this will not allow pouring into them.

Carefully remove the remnants of the former coating, sweep the floors and remove dust and debris. If there are stains from various oil contaminants and paints, they must be eliminated, otherwise the material will not be able to acquire good adhesion to the rough coating. When the preparatory work is completed, you can primer the floors or make a pillow of sand. This will save money on the bulk floor, the expense will be reduced due to the completed bulk foundation. Sand will not affect the functionality of the floors, but will only become a burdensome economical material during such work.

Bulk floors: how to calculate the expense
bulk floor consumption

It is important when working to clearly calculate how much material you need so as not to interrupt the filling process. This will depend on the coating layer and the density of the mixture used on bulk floors. Consumption per m2 is calculated as follows: a pouring thickness of 1 mm is equal to 1 liter of the finished solution, it is enough for 1 m 2 of floor area. Following this formula, you will know exactly how much liquid composition is needed for your area.

For example, a room of 10 m2 will require 100 liters of finished polymer. Pay attention to the density indicator on the packaging of the material. Very often, the manufacturer adds heavy fillers to reduce the cost of goods, but the more of those in the composition, the greater the consumption per square meter. The density of the mixture of 1.2 kg per 1 liter increases the flow rate of the solution from 100 liters per 10 m 2 to 120 liters (1.2 x 100). The bulk floor, the consumption of working materials for which you can now independently calculate, can be of different heights depending on your needs: it can be used both as the main type of coating, and as a rough screed for the main material.

bulk floor flow rate

Dry mix on bulk floor

Before you start mixing the stock solution, you need to determine the amount of dry material needed to arrange the bulk floor. The flow rate of the mixture for work can be calculated using a simple calculation. According to the standards and type of mixture (the amount of heavy additives is taken into account), it is assumed that the cost is from 1.2 to 1.8 kg per 1 m 2 of your coating.

The floor thickness is taken as a basis of 0.1 cm. You can easily arrange a bulk floor, the expense of expensive materials for which it is quite easy to calculate.
