Irinovsky Prospekt: Krasnogvardeisky district of St. Petersburg

In St. Petersburg, in the Krasnogvardeisky district, limited by the streets of Boksitogorskaya and Kommuna, Irinovsky Prospekt passes. The name was given to him in 1914 (it was received from the Irinovskaya narrow-linear railway line, which has been held here since 1982 between the villages of Irinovka and Bolshaya Okhta).

This railway has a rather interesting history, which dates back to 1889. It was then that Korf Pavel Leopoldovich, who at that time worked as chairman of the Free Economic Society, expressed a desire to pave his own money to build a railroad leading from the Neva to his estate in Irinovka. He filed a request for help to the Cabinet of Ministers. His request was satisfied, but under one condition, which was that all the work would be completed within three years. Alexander III also approved the project. The construction of the road lasted 33 months. It was the first Russian road with a track width not exceeding 750 mm. In 1892, its discovery took place. It was then that there was a need for the construction of a road (now Irinovsky Prospekt) from the Irinovsky station, which was located at the place where building 62 on Sverdlovskaya Embankment is now located , to the estate of Pavel Leopoldovich.

In 1899, the baron sold the road to the public organization of the Irinovo railway station. During this period, Irinovsky Prospekt occupied the territory between the Okhta River and the modern Prospect Energetikov. However, by 1929 the road was being rebuilt. During this period, the Irinovsky station was reconstructed, the paths leading along Panfilovskaya street were dismantled. Currently, only the house 31-A, located on Panfilova Street, reminds of the station. And to Rzhevka railway tracks were replaced by tram. Since that time, trams run along the avenue.

Since 1970, the tram line that ran between Metallistov and Energetik Avenues was moved to Bolshaya Porokhovskaya Street. Driving on this site was no longer. By a 1978 decree, part of the territory located between Energetikov Avenue and Baksitogorskaya Street went to Bolshaya Porokhovskaya Street. And two years before this event, Irinovsky Prospect grew a bit and now ran from the Okhta River to the beginning of Kommuny Street.

In the late 70s, active construction of residential buildings began on the territory adjacent to the avenue. Irinovsky Prospect began to cross more and more highways, including Industrial Avenue and Mentors Avenue. During this period, the road that led from Ilyinskaya Sloboda to the village of Malinovka was renamed Peredovikov Street. A small part related to Koltushskoye Shosse was slightly reconstructed and assigned to Kommuna Street, which now ends with Irinovsky Avenue.
