The coast of Thailand stretches for thousands of kilometers. It is washed by the waters of the Andaman and South China (in the Gulf of Thailand) seas. It is so diverse that absolutely every guest will find a paradise for themselves: both a lover of comfort and a fan of "wild" relaxation.
And on the many islands, the beaches of Thailand are simply amazing. This is explained simply - getting to the islands is more difficult than to resorts located on the mainland. To do this, you need to sail by ferry, vacationers are much less, therefore, the sea and coast are not so spoiled by civilization.
The country has several hundred beaches, so we will not even try to tell about all. We restrict ourselves to just a few - we will present to you the best beaches in Thailand, which are of interest to tourists. We will introduce you to both world famous resorts, and less popular, but no less beautiful.
The best beaches of Thailand: Jomtien (Pattaya)
This wonderful place is located in Pattaya, Thailand’s most visited resort by Russian tourists . The city is attractive in terms of cheapness for everything: products, shopping, hotels. There are always a lot of holidaymakers. Therefore, it is better to go on vacation to the Jompien region, which is a few kilometers to Pattaya.
It is much calmer here, there are significantly fewer people, and picturesque green meadows begin very close to the coast. If you ask: “What are the best beaches in Thailand?”, 90% of tourists will call you this beach. Throughout the year, you can relax comfortably, because in this area there is no rainy season, the sea is almost always calm, there are no ebbs characteristic of many other resorts when the water leaves more than fifty meters from the coast.
The coast is covered with snow-white sand, the entrance to the water is rather steep, the depth begins almost immediately, so this is the only reason why it is not recommended to relax with children here.
Klong Prao (Koh Chang Island)
Describing the beautiful beaches of Thailand, one can not say about the central and longest of them - Klong Prao, located on the island of Koh Chang. The purest azure sea, soft snow-white sand, palm trees leaning towards the sea. There is no asphalt road, so you can forget about civilization and fully enjoy the magnificent nature.
The coast of Klong Prao stretches for several kilometers. To the north of it is Chai Chet beach, no less attractive for tourists, separated from Klong Prao by a small river, about 20 meters wide. Comfortable hotels were built in the south (for example, Amari).
Both beaches have a gentle entrance to the water. There are often low tides, during which the water leaves more than a hundred meters.
Lamai
As we have already mentioned, the best (in our opinion) beaches of Thailand are on the islands. For example, on Koh Samui you can have a great time on Lamai Beach. Its length is several kilometers. It combines organically developed infrastructure, picturesque landscapes and low population. There are areas where there are very few people, probably because they are not too well equipped, but there are well-equipped areas with umbrellas, sunbeds, massage services directly on the coast and a variety of water activities.
The coast is wide, covered with white sand. It is suitable for family holidays. We do not recommend coming here in autumn when a long rainy season begins on Samui.
Long beach
The beaches of Thailand (you can see the photo in our article) dispose to complete relaxation and rest not only the body, but also the soul. Long Beach does not have the usual bustling nightlife for resorts; several hotels are located on the first line. The sandy shore, the sea is clean. Rest here attracts with tranquility and solitude. From May to October-November, there are usually huge waves.
Nang Tong
The beaches of Thailand quite often attract people who want to relax from the hustle and bustle of the city, to go away from popular hiking trails. The length of Nang Tong is several kilometers. For the "wild" rest (without hotels) the northern part is best suited. Those who wish to relax more comfortably are recommended to go to the southern or central sections.
The beach is sandy. Some areas directly behind the sand are covered with green grass. The entrance to the water is pretty steep. Between May and October, Nang Tong Beach usually has very high waves that make swimming difficult, so it is advisable to visit this resort from November to the end of April.
Kaw Kwang and Klong Dao (Lanta)
The beaches of Thailand quite often resemble a colorful picture from an advertising booklet. This fully applies to Kaw Kwang Beach, located in the west of Ko Lanta. In the morning, tourists wake up to the sound of the surf, around the forest, there are no cars, no motorcycles, noisy bars, local residents offering to buy something. Only two bungalow type hotels with a restaurant. The cleanest sea, gentle sun, picturesque greenery, clean sea air and an almost empty beach - what more could a tired inhabitant of a megalopolis want?
If you suddenly want to have some fun, walk 30 minutes along the coast and you will find yourself on Klong Dao. This is undoubtedly the best and most visited beach of Lanta. The infrastructure is well developed here - hotels and restaurants, bars and travel agencies, massage parlors. There are bank branches, of course, ATMs, motorbike rental, shops.
Had Rin Nok (Phangan)
Many beaches in Thailand have become world famous. An example of this is a place located on Phangan, in the south of the island. This beach has become famous for the Full Moon Party. It takes place monthly. If you like parties, then you can’t find a better place.
On the coast there are about ten bars equipped with modern sound systems. Here the music sounds all night long. The rest of the time, when there are no parties, this beach is suitable for a traditional beach holiday. The magnificent sandy coast stretches almost a kilometer. The beach is clean and wide, well equipped and well maintained.
Kata (Phuket)
And this is one of the most famous beaches on the island of Phuket, stretching over more than a kilometer. The coastline is quite wide. Here, children can play near the water. I must say that this beach, like no other, is suitable for a relaxing family vacation. The entrance to the water is very smooth - the first ten meters, the water barely reaches the knee. Kids enjoy splashing in shallow water, and parents do not have to worry about them.
Almost all the coast (except for the northern sections) has sun loungers and umbrellas. There are no pronounced ebbs and flows on Kate, but from the second half of May until October there are quite high waves and underwater currents are activated. Therefore, at this time it is better to choose another beach in Thailand.
