To date, several methods are known for the manufacture and cultivation of grapes both at home and in industrial conditions. However, what remains unchanged is the technology of squeezing fresh juice from berries. In it, regardless of the place and type of production, a special press for grapes is used. Of course, in industry its size and performance are much more than home-made options, however, to purchase such a device for home purposes is simply inexpedient, because for 10 and even 50 liters of wine there are quite enough hand-made devices. But absolutely everyone can make a press for grapes with their own hands, while spending a minimum of money, time and effort on work.
Making a roller mill
As you know, this device is able to extract from the fruit all the nutrients, vitamins and mineral salts. Therefore, for high-quality crushing of berries, it is necessary to install a roller crusher. You can make it with the help of improvised tools. All you need to make is a wooden frame, a loading bucket and 2 rolls fixed in bearings on the frame. And, of course, do not forget to make a handle for rotation. The main material here is wood, so we will not use any welding machines or other complex devices.
Material Details
In order to make a frame, you need to prepare several wooden blocks with a length of approximately 60-70 centimeters with a cross section of 10x4 cm. In this case, the width of the finished device will depend on the size of the roller. The optimal size on average is about 15-20 centimeters. In this case, the distance between the transverse bars should be equal to the sum of the lengths of the rolls. When calculating this distance, add another 10 cm to the resulting value. This will give you the most optimal and practical construction in size.
Do-it-yourself grape press: installing rolls
As for these tools, they need to be made corrugated. The depth of each reef should be about 2-3 centimeters. Finished products must be directed to the axis of the rolls helically, making a small shift within 2 centimeters for every 10 cm of the roll. The resulting mechanism should be fixed on the main frame, that is, on the home press for grapes, and ensure movement with bearings. Remember that the rolls will rotate on the axis at different speeds, so the gears must be applied with different diameters. Gear ratio do 1: 2. If the size of the gears will be the same, you will have to do this work with the rollers, reducing their dimensions for a given gear ratio. Only then can your homemade grape press provide different rotational speeds for the berries.
Next, it is necessary to fix a wooden pyramid-shaped bucket and a handle over the rolls. The latter must be attached to one of the sides of the mechanism. When making a grape press with your own hands, do not forget to install a vessel for receiving pressed raw materials in the lower part of it. Make the clearance between the rollers manageable to ensure normal compression of the fruit depending on its size. Everything, at this stage, the press for grapes with their own hands has been successfully made!
