Connecting corners: description, varieties, application

The connecting galvanized corner has a number of high performance characteristics, due to which it is used quite often. The main scope of such a product is structures in which it is required to provide increased rigidity.

Description

The corner is a profile of stainless steel, the surface of which is protected from a wide variety of external influences. For the manufacture of this product, roll forming machines are used. The main raw material for production is either carbon structural steel or low alloy steel.

In their manufacture, one of the latest technologies, called thermal diffusion, is used. Application of galvanization by this method allows you to create a protective film with a thickness of 100-120 microns on the metal surface. This layer perfectly resists corrosion. The length of the connecting corners can be very different, from 3 to 12 meters, depending on why they will be used in the future.

Varieties

The building materials market offers a choice of several varieties of this material. Corners can differ in purpose, configuration and even the shape of the holes. If you disassemble the product into several types according to their structural differences, then in this case we can distinguish the following three types of connecting corners:

  • solid steel corners;
  • perforated type;
  • with reinforced or sliding construction.

It is also worth mentioning about reinforced steel corners. Their difference is that they have an additional stiffener, which is absent in any other type. Due to this, the rigidity of this design is higher. Connecting corners that have a galvanized coating can be divided into two more categories:

  • Equal-shelf
  • unequal.

Product Advantages

The great popularity of this product is due to the fact that it has many different positive aspects. The main serious differences are good protection against aggressive environmental influences, as well as against corrosion, especially if the metal has an additional galvanized coating. In addition, its presence has a positive effect on the service life, increasing it to several tens of years. Connecting corners can be installed even during wet weather or in rain. This is possible due to the fact that they will not lose their qualities due to the influence of such weather conditions. If we talk about the main positive qualities, then it is worth highlighting a few more:

  • the universality of the material, allowing its use in many spheres of human activity;
  • high resistance to corrosion;
  • even under the influence of strong loads, a metal corner 50x50 or more is able to maintain its original shape for a long time;
  • thermal expansion is at a sufficiently low level, as is the thermal conductivity of the material;
  • usability and long service life are also excellent qualities.

Some features of the corners

Elements such as perforated connecting corners, which are most often found when assembling furniture, have become very popular. There are holes for fasteners on both sides of the product. Depending on the purpose of the corner, their diameter can vary significantly. The distance between each subsequent hole is only 25 mm, and the thickness of the corner is from 1 to 3 cm.

However, it is worth clarifying here that such dimensions for the connecting corners are relative. When ordering them from the manufacturer’s company, it is usually possible to obtain products of such dimensions that are required to carry out the intended construction or assembly work.
