Russian futurism in literature - a poetic blow to aesthetics and everyday life

Russian futurism in literature appeared at the beginning of the twentieth century, namely in 1912. This time coincided with the favorable political and social situation in the country. As expected, the critics and high society did not accept the futurists, but ordinary people treated them with respect and love. Often, when the first writers of this direction recited their own works, this did not cause anything other than ordinary bewilderment among the listeners.

At the dawn of its history, Russian futurism in literature was significantly different from that in other countries. Foreign writers were too radical and harsh. As for the Russian authors directly, in their works one could see some kindness, gentleness, sometimes even sincerity, and also there was no clearly expressed aggression against the authorities and the established political system. They tried to speak in a satirical manner. That is why the first Russian futurists could not be called idealists of their own direction, but their role in world literature does not decrease from this.

Representatives of futurism in Russian literature owe much to their Italian colleagues. The fact is that various innovations in any art reached St. Petersburg with some delays. If the first examples of futurism came to Russia a decade earlier, then this direction in the country would simply not exist, since the absence of a crisis in culture and sociology did not imply rebellion and anarchy in poetry and prose.

In general, futurism in Russian literature was discovered by Khlebnikov. Initially, he was a symbolist, but he was only able to imitate this direction. This was largely due to the fact that its principles were quite different from generally accepted ones: they were free, unshackled by ordinary poetic canons. Thanks to such thinking, he made an ideal futurist - the founder of the Russian poetic rebellion, anarchy and the denial of cultural traditions. One cannot fail to note the true genius of this literary movement - Mayakovsky. However, its later appearance was due to the fact that critics began to treat the futurists sparingly. And also many publishers no longer refused the large-scale printing of such authors, so it was much easier for him to develop his talents.

Russian futurism in literature was not limited only to writing. Many poets knew how to draw, because avant-garde painting was closely connected with poetry, and futurist artists wrote prose and poetry. In addition, it should be noted that this trend in art burst into everyday life. In fact, every futurist departed from the usual restrained style in clothing, his image was so incomprehensible to the then bourgeoisie that she refused sober criticism of the works. That is, figuratively speaking, the verses were not perceived only because the author told them in yellow pants. Critics could with relative calm perceive the mockery of any classic, but they did not want to see a different color or cut trousers.

It will not be possible to perceive Russian futurism in literature as an independent artistic style, since all the avant-garde trends in the country were called so, even those that completely did not correspond to it. In addition, it is worth adding that over time, more adequate assessments of works began to appear. And in the end, the talent of the futurists was recognized.
