The future writer was born on May 15, 1933 in the Russian city of Moscow. Pretty little is known about Edward's family. Surely we can only say that the father of Eduard Khrutsky was a seasoned military intelligence officer. When the Great Patriotic War began, Edward was only 8 years old. The terrible events of that time influenced the formation of the future writer and left a huge mark in his soul. When German troops began to actively move through Soviet territory, Edward and his mother went to evacuate. At the end of the war, the Khrutsky family returned to Moscow again.

Childhood

The boy from the earliest years showed great hope. Edward was very curious, it was for this reason that he tried to independently find answers to all his questions. Thanks to such an incredible thirst for knowledge, the boy quickly became one of the best students in the school. Khrutsky took great pleasure in studying literature. As a child, Edward spent hundreds of hours in the library, where he read the works of Russian classics.

For this reason, after graduation, the young man entered the Leningrad Military Engineering School named after Andrei Alexandrovich Zhdanov. Later, Edward joined the ranks of the Soviet army. Edward even participated in the fighting. For example, the writer suppressed the so-called Hungarian uprising of 1956. During the service, Edward tried himself in literature and wrote short stories. Khrutsky liked this activity, it was for this reason that it was decided to leave the army in order to do what he loved.

Literary activity

Soon Khrutsky was demobilized. To gain experience, Edward works in various Moscow periodicals. For example, Khrutsky wrote for the notorious newspaper Moskovsky Komsomolets. Nevertheless, Edward received the first serious literary work only in the 1960s. He was one of the authors of the annual compilation entitled “The Duel”. In addition, Khrutsky received the post of chief editor of the military-adventure almanac "Feat".

However, Edward had little editorial activity. It is for this reason that he begins to write his first novel. Thus, soon a book called “The Fourth Echelon” appears, which consists of seven novels. The author talks about a special department to combat banditry, which functioned during the Great Patriotic War. It is also worth noting that the events of the book go far beyond the framework of the Great Patriotic War. Thus, the first story, entitled "The Cheka reports ..." tells the story of a young boy Ivan Danilov, who in 1918 had just joined the ranks of the OBB. In turn, the actions of the last story "One Hundred and First Kilometers" unfold in the early 50s of the twentieth century.

Due to the fact that Edward had certain connections and a reputation in literary circles, the publication of the book was not a big problem. When the “Fourth Tier” appeared on the shelves of bookstores, a limited edition scattered almost instantly. The main reason for the popularity of this work is the thematic area. With the help of his novel, Edward began to actively move up the career ladder. He began to write scripts for various art and television films. Thus, Eduard can safely be considered the father of such cult film works as “On the corner, near the Patriarchs”, “According to the criminal investigation department”, “Last autumn” and “Proceed to liquidation”.

In 2009, the publishing house "Terra" released a collection of works by Khrutsky, which consisted of ten volumes. And in 2012, the studio "Santa Claus" made a new twenty-episode film called "MUR". The film was based on Khrutsky’s novel and narrated the adventures of the head of the OBB Danilov.
