Acid-resistant brick: characteristics

Acid-resistant brick is able to undergo the effects of acids. These products are actively used in industrial enterprises.

Scope of acid-resistant products

The products mentioned above are used to protect all kinds of equipment, which during operation inevitably comes into contact with aggressive substances. This material is popular in the construction of various industrial structures, chimneys, flues, towers, gutters, as well as tanks. Such bricks are also used when lining pipes that discharge substances with active and toxic components. Fueling stations, too, cannot be built without acid-resistant material.

Manufacturing Features

Acid-resistant brick contains ingredients that undergo special processing beforehand. Typically, such products contain clay, dunite and some additives. All these components are necessary to give the bricks strength. Clay, sand and chamotte are fired, sintered at significant temperatures, which can reach 1300 ° C. After that, it is possible to obtain a brick that not only possesses the listed qualities, but also does not fear the effects of concentrated alkalis and high temperatures. Products perfectly undergo mechanical stress.

Acid-resistant brick is used in tandem with a special acid-resistant putty. For material cutting, an installation is used that works due to an electric motor.

Acid-resistant brick parameters according to GOST

Acid-resistant brick has a weight of approximately 3.5 kg, but this indicator may vary depending on shape and size. So, the most common are direct and wedge products, which can be end or rib. The block can be radial, and it, in turn, is divided into longitudinal and transverse bricks.

The most commonly used dimensions in construction are 230x113x65 mm. Acid-resistant brick may have some deviations from the dimensions specified by GOST. Permissible error varies between 2-8 mm.

Sometimes it becomes necessary to carry out work using a thickened product. This involves the use of one and a half or double bricks, each of them, according to the principle of the usual, can be solid, hollow or porous. Hollow holes have one or more holes, the shape and dimensions of which can be different. Such blocks do not have such an impressive load on the base of the building, and the walls, which are based on the described products, are characterized by thermal insulation qualities. In addition, they are cheaper due to less impressive consumption of raw materials.

But it is not recommended to use hollow material in the event that the structure will be in direct contact with water.

Acid-resistant brick (GOST 474-90)

GOST 474 90 acid-resistant brick

When purchasing products that have the above qualities, pay attention to the fact that they must be produced in accordance with GOST 474-90. Acid-resistant brick in this case at the fracture has small fractions, and its surface is homogeneous. Do not use blocks that have internal cracks. This indicates a marriage, for a long time such bricks will not last.

It is necessary to ensure that there is a marking, it is located on one side of the brick. On the box, package, and also the pallet should be a label on which you can find information about the class of the product, quantity of goods, batch number and date of manufacture.

During transportation, the brick should be well packed in pallets made according to technical specifications 21-28-60, they can be replaced with containers made according to the standard 19667. In order to prevent capsizing during transportation, the bricks are tied with a metal tape.

It is extremely important when buying to pay attention to GOST. Acid-resistant brick, produced without observing the above standards, will not meet the listed quality characteristics, will not protect structures and structures. Do not transport products in boxes or bags weighing more than 1 ton.

To purchase such a brick for private construction is impractical, since it has a more impressive cost than ordinary.
