Description
The coat of arms of the Leningrad region is made in the form of a French shield. This choice of authors is determined by the main directions of European heraldry. This form is the most popular and common in the territory of the Russian Federation and neighboring countries.

There are two silver anchors on it, in the middle of them crosses a golden scepter. Such a composition speaks of the important water significance and proximity of the city to state power.
At the same time, the shield is crowned by the imperial crown and framed by a blue St. Andrew's ribbon. On the coat of arms of Vyborg, the shield is divided into two parts: at the bottom there is a golden letter on a blue background, the top field is painted red, it has three golden crowns. Two angels sit above the shield.
The Gatchina symbol is also divided into two parts. A letter is depicted at the bottom on a blue background. The upper half is painted in gold color, inside there is a golden double-headed eagle crowned with three crowns. On his chest there is a red shield with the image of the nominal symbol of Paul I, behind him is the cross of the Order of John of Jerusalem.
