How does the 90-minute pass work? Rules for using tickets

Those who rarely visit the Russian capital, a few years ago, might have been puzzled by the introduction of a new ticketing system. And not all Muscovites will answer the question of how the 90 minute pass works. But in some cases, it may turn out to be more profitable and economical compared to regular tickets for 1-2 trips, so it's worth sorting out.

Tickets for public transport in Moscow

In 2013, the fare payment system was seriously changed in the Russian capital. Instead of simple and understandable tickets for a certain number of trips, incomprehensible travel cards were introduced, which were more expensive and seemed simply stupid. After some time, it became clear that such a system is much more convenient and flexible. And with the gradual introduction of new opportunities there is even a chance to save. You just need to understand how the 90 minute pass works, how it differs from the One, and why the Troika is needed. So let's get started.

how the travel card works 90 minutes

"One"

This is a bus pass, a trolley bus, injuries and the subway, as well as a monorail. It acts on all the main types of public transport according to one of two principles: either it writes off trips for each pass through the turnstile, or unlimited in their quantity, but is limited in time of functioning. In the first case, unlike the tickets that were valid before, you can use the said travel card not for 45, but for as long as 90 days. If earlier, after a lapse of a month and a half, trips were burned out, now there is more time to spend them. It is more convenient and economical for those who regularly use public transport, but only one of its kind. The second subspecies of the "One" may be convenient for those whose work is associated with constant trips, as well as tourists. The time periods when this ticket is valid can be: 1, 3, 7 days, 30, 90 or 365 days. In fact, this subspecies has replaced the old extremely popular travel card for a month. However, it exists today and costs 2550 rubles.

90 minutes ticket price

Among other things, the "One" is suitable for travel on the territory of the so-called New Moscow, but in order to get there, you will have to buy another ticket. And if a passenger uses a combination of the metro and ground transportation during his trips, he should take into account the other travel card.

90 minutes

The rules for using this ticket are also quite simple: 1 trip counts from the moment the turnstile passes and is valid for one and a half hours. In this case, you can go 1 time in the subway, and there are no restrictions on travel in buses, trams and trolleybuses. Thus, the fare for the metro and bus within this period of time is likely to be lower than in the case of using the "Single" or TAT. It will be extremely convenient for those who live and work at some distance from the underground transport network, naturally, if they fit into the allotted one and a half hours. “90 minutes” is a ticket, the price of which is slightly higher compared to “One”, and this is understandable, because it makes it possible to make several trips using only one on the ticket. For comparison: 1 pass will cost 60 rubles, and the fare for 60 landings is 2100, which in terms of unit will be only 35 rubles, so it is extremely beneficial to purchase long-term tickets right away. This is how the 90-minute pass works, beneficial for those who live or work far from the metro.

Which to choose?

When it is clear how the “90 minutes” or “One” travel card works, it seems quite easy to understand which one will be more profitable to use in a given situation. In fact, not everyone wants to think about it, to calculate the time spent on average on a trip, which translates into unnecessary expenses.

Taking into account the last increase in tariffs, one trip without travel will cost from 29 to 50 rubles. If you take the “One” for 60 passes, each of them will cost 23.3 rubles. With the "90 minutes" tariff, it’s more difficult to calculate the benefit, since you can use several modes of transport within 1.5 hours if necessary. But in any case, if the route involves transfers, it will be more profitable than a separate payment for the bus and subway. And although “90 minutes” is a ticket, the price of which is 1.5 times higher than that of “Ediniy”, it can also be much more profitable in some cases.

monthly pass

"Troika"

There is another card, which is extremely convenient for those who use all types of public transport quite regularly, but needs some flexibility, which is not always provided by travel cards of the aforementioned types. In fact, it is an electronic wallet, but has more special functionality and some features.

Firstly, Troika can be charged just the standard cost of a trip by ground or underground transport, which in itself is beneficial, since you do not have to buy more expensive tickets for 1-2 trips.

Secondly, the card can be recorded travel card "90 minutes" or "Single", as well as subscriptions to trains.

Finally, another indisputable advantage of Troika is that it can be replenished in a large number of ways. In addition to the kiosks in the metro, through which you can simply put money on it, there is a network of terminals with which you can buy travel cards, as well as special sites and applications for mobile. Thus, once you have acquired Troika, you can never again contact the subway ticket offices to pay for your fare.

Features

All existing types of travel cards have some nuances that are not always immediately noticeable to passengers, so at some point you may suddenly encounter problems. For example, 90-minute tickets for 1 trip are valid only on the day of sale, so you should not buy them for future use. Yes, and the pass for 2 passes does not last long - only 5 days.

At the same time, the "One", with a time limit, begins to operate from the moment of its first use, so that it can be purchased just in advance, but not earlier than 10 days before the day when it is needed.

As for the "Troika", here, too, is not entirely clear. For example, if a TAT and Unified bus pass are recorded on it, then the first one will work when passing through ground transport, and the second will work in the subway. In addition, “90 minutes” cannot be combined with the other two types of travel cards for technical reasons. So you should be careful when choosing the most profitable methods of payment for transport.
