The Star Wars universe has always been striking in its scale and diversity. It is not surprising that the creators decided to expand the boundaries even more, giving the go-ahead to create an entire anthology of Star Wars games. They have everything that can interest not only an ardent fan of the franchise, but also third-party gamers: fascinating plot twists, familiar and completely new characters, interesting locations and much more.
For the entire existence of the Star Wars anthology, a wide variety of games have been created: from the special edition of Angry Birds to large-scale single-player and online projects. Moreover, developers continue to work on new content to this day, so Star Wars fans will certainly not be bored.
Today we have prepared a special top game from the anthology of Star Wars, which is worth paying attention to every interested gamer. Here are projects of various genres and with a variety of mechanics, but all of them are united by one thing - Star Wars.
Star Wars: Battlefront
The game was not too high quality for its time, but still managed to leave a mark in history. It is worth noting that we are talking about the very first “Battlefront”, and not about the last part at the moment, which was released in 2017. While working on the new trilogy, “Lucas Art” did not pay much attention to the high quality of games coming out from under their wing. The release showed that “Battlefront” was not worth waiting for something interesting in technical terms. In addition, the story campaign turned out to be rather dry and not interesting - many were saddened by the lack of really interesting quests, as well as poorly developed artificial intelligence.
But despite this, Star Wars: Battlefront was able to obtain the status of the best-selling game for this franchise of that year. An attempt to imitate “Battlefield 1943” worked, albeit not quite perfectly - people enjoyed playing online, where there were familiar locations and a large number of exciting and epic battles. Players could accept any of the four existing parties: they could join the Empire or the rebels, the Republic, or the separatists.
"Old Republic"
The next Star Wars game from our list has been released in the popular MMORPG genre. At the time of release, she managed to get the love and recognition of most of the audience. After its successful launch, numerous awards, a large number of subscribers and other achievements followed. Soon, however, as this happens with most successful projects, the “Old Republic” began to overtake setbacks.
This is not to say that this game deserved the overwhelming decline in interest and activity of the audience. The "Old Republic" was and still remains a very beautiful and deep MMORPG, which was able to attract many new fans to the Star Wars community. The game managed to maintain a healthy balance between simple mob races and entertaining adventures. Each class has its own storyline, while all related videos are fully voiced. There is no doubt that the trump card of the “Old Republic” was precisely in a well-thought-out scenario and in attention to the characters.
Lego star wars
Moving on to the 3 Star Wars game from our list. 2005 was a new beginning for the Lego series, which changed its typical direction towards popular cinema. Alterations of franchises such as Harry Potter, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Adventures of Indiana Jones, etc., were able to find their niche and became quite popular in the gaming industry. The Star Wars universe was not spared.
Part of the Lego Star Wars anthology was published right before the premiere of the film “Revenge of the Sith”, becoming the actual retelling of the new trilogy. It found a place at the same time for cooperative action and an arcade platformer. The game was able to boast not only decent graphics, but also fascinating gameplay, suitable for an audience of all ages.
Star Wars: Angry Birds
Another game from the anthology, which this time is the original spin-off of the popular Angry Birds series. This time, angry birds were given blasters and lightsabers with which they attack imperial pigs. The story originates on the planet Tatooine, and then moves to the real Death Star. In addition, an additional location was added to the game, which was released along with the Jedi Path addon.
Star Wars Angry Birds has added a lot of interesting chips and fresh ideas. The game updated the physics, paid attention to the musical component and, of course, did not forget about the imperishable mechanics of the gameplay. In general, Star Wars: Angry Birds is a nice crossover between two popular universes, which can captivate from the very first minutes.
Unbridled Power
The prologue to the next game from the Star Wars anthology once received a lot of praise from an admiring audience. In it, the players were shown Darth Vader himself, who was walking along the green corridors and blowing hundreds of enemies into the abyss at a time, using only the Force. All this spectacle was accompanied by impressive scenes and a decent share of pathos. After that, the game introduced another Vader student character - Starkiller.
Gameplay "Unbridled power" is made in the genre of simplified slasher. It is able to give the user a sense of invincibility, while not at all reducing the pleasure received from the process. The game, like any other slasher, is filled with an overabundance of spectacular scenes: here you can throw your enemies into the windows, force them to soar powerlessly in open space and, of course, use their full Strength.
Academy for the Jedi
This place from the game of the same name was described in the predecessor game. The Jedi Academy has become a place with which the story of a bad cult and one powerful artifact was associated. Unfortunately, the storyline of the new game turned out to be “leaky” enough to cause a lot of misunderstandings during the passage.
Excluding this flaw, the Jedi Academy as a whole continued the tradition of exciting Star Wars games. The gameplay turned out to be swift and exciting, and an additional "attachment" to the character is realized due to additional options for choosing sex, race, clothing and a lightsaber.
Republic commando
The game was able to stand out from other competitors due to the non-banal genre - a tactical first-person shooter. The player has always been accompanied by several teammates who carry out various orders and provide great assistance during the battles.
Despite the spirit of casualness, Republic Commando turned out to be peppy enough to captivate for long hours of passage. This is far from an ideal anthology game, but it will surely appeal to all Star Wars fans.
Knights of the old republic
The contribution that this game made to the development of the RPG genre is simply invaluable. Without it, there would not be such large and popular projects as the Mass Effect or the Old Republic. The role players found incredible freedom of action, each of which led to certain consequences. They had the opportunity to explore the elaborate universe, do original quests and become part of a wonderful developing scenario.
The dark and light sides of the Force could easily attract any hero to themselves, but the player himself could choose the final path - it was built on the basis of the complex decisions made that were encountered during the game.
Fans of the original saga also did not stand aside. Many unexpected events were prepared for them, revealing the details of the plot that happened before the clone attacks. The Star Wars anthology games were finally able to take their rightful place in the canon.
Battlefront ii
We conclude our today's list with the last part of the Battlefront, which was released in November 2017. To date, this is the latest game from the Star Wars series, which at the same time is a continuation of its predecessor. This is still the same multiplayer shooter, but with a few significant changes.
Firstly, in the second “Battlefront” appeared the long-awaited single player, which represents a completely new heroine named Eden Versio. Under her leadership is an elite imperial stormtrooper unit known as the Inferno. After the second Death Star was destroyed, Versio sets off on an exciting journey that spans the storyline between the sixth and seventh parts of the saga. Players will have a chance to meet with Yoda, Darth Maul, Kylo Wren, and even Luke Skywalker himself.
Of course, “Battlefront” could not do without a multiplayer mode. It covers all the confrontation between the forces of the Jedi and the Empire.
