Carnival costumes for children's parties are becoming increasingly popular. Gone are the days when everyone was just bunnies and snowflakes. Now everyone has their own role at the carnival, and it requires a more sophisticated costume. There are many options, you can always buy ready-made. But if there is time and a desire to create, it is better to sew a titmouse costume for a girl with her own hands. As a basis, you can take a dress, skirt, tunic or jumpsuit.
We offer an interesting and original outfit in which your girl will flutter at the celebration, like a real bird. In addition, it is simple to execute and does not require special sewing skills.
Skirt
We are preparing a children's costume for a titmouse with a full skirt sun-flared in two layers. We use fabrics of different texture : satin and tulle of blue and yellow colors. The consumption of fabric is approximate. Model parameters: height - 128 cm, waist - 60 cm, length of the upper skirt - 30 cm, length of the bottom - 37 cm.
The top of the product is made of blue satin, the bottom is made of yellow tulle. You will need:
- blue satin with a width of 1.5 m - 1.2 m;
- yellow tulle 1.5 m wide - 1.5 m;
- satin slanting inlay of blue color;
- elastic band for a decorative belt of blue color - 55 cm;
- paper for patterns;
- scissors, tape, chalk.
How to build a pattern of a skirt-sun?
To sew a titmouse costume for the New Year, we are preparing a pattern ¼ paper products. We make calculations:
- We calculate the radius - this is the width of the skirt in the belt: FROM: (2 * 3.14) = 60: 6.28 = 9.55 cm.
- In our pattern, ½, so we lay 4.78 cm in the upper semicircle. Be sure to take into account that the skirt will be fitted at the waist, so we will deepen the waist line by 1-1.5 cm along the shared thread.
- From the center of the waistline we lay the length of the skirt - 30 cm down and on the sides. Plus 2 cm - allowances for seams.
- Connect the dots and cut out. Well, a titmouse costume pattern is ready.
- We proceed to work with the fabric. Start with a blue satin top skirt. We fold the fabric twice diagonally, pin the pattern to it with pins, outline it by adding 2 cm to the seams and cut it out. Sew such a skirt on the sides is not necessary, the circumference is complete. Need to pick up the fabric at the waist.
- We do the same with tulle, adding 7 cm in length. And also we pick it up at the waist. We connect both parts of the skirt and sew to the belt, for which we use blue decorative rubber band.
- At the edges of the upper skirt we sew a blue slanting trim. Fatin does not need finishing. So, the skirt is ready. We turn to tailoring vests.
Vest
To sew a titmouse costume for a girl with our own hands, for a vest we use an atlas of blue and yellow. At the edges of the finished product we decorate with a ribbon of feathers. For a girl with a height of 128 cm you will need:
- blue satin - 35 cm;
- yellow satin - 35 cm;
- oblique satin trim for decoration;
- decorative feather braid;
- paper for patterns.
The vest consists of three parts: the back of the back is blue and the two front shelves are yellow. We cut out the model from paper, as shown in the figure below, draw it on the fabric taking into account the allowance for seams up to 2 cm.
Cut and sew on the sides. We process the edges with an oblique inlay. As a decor, we use a feather ribbon in blue. Alternatively, you can add yellow and black - the color of feathers in the titmouse. Decorate the entire vest around the edge. The same feathers can also be sewn onto the sleeves of a raglan, which is worn under a vest. Color can choose blue. We will decorate the tit breast with a black tie. You can take ready-made or make from the remnants of felt, which is used for hats.
Headdress
Creating a titmouse costume for a girl with your own hands, you need to think through a hat. There are many options. It can be a hoop using flowers and feathers, a bandana or a hat of different models. The main thing is that the main colors are present: blue, yellow and black. In our case, we sew a hat with a visor in the form of a bird's beak from felt. This material holds its shape perfectly, does not require additional processing of cut edges, does not fade. If desired, you can replace it with other materials. So, you will need:
- felt of blue, yellow and black;
- double-sided adhesive tape white.
How to prepare patterns, shown below.
Number 1 is the beak, 2 is the front shelf, 3 and 4 are the side parts, 5 and 6 are the rear shelves, 7 is the fastener.
We cut out all the details of the cap from paper, after making the calculations. So, for parts 3 and 4, the length of the base is equal to the diameter of the head divided by 6. Then we lay out the patterns on the fabric, circle, adding a little to the seams, cut and sew alternately. The beak is black, the remaining details are blue and yellow, as indicated in the figure. The eyes are cut out of white tape, glued to the cap on the sides. Pupils can be drawn with a marker or cut out from the remains of felt. Be sure to fasten the fastener at the back. Mounting points are indicated on the pattern.
Well, a titmouse costume for a girl is made with her own hands. It remains to add a few details and you can go on a holiday.
We complete the image
As the basis of the outfit, we use a raglan with a long sleeve of blue color to match the skirt. We decorate it with a feather ribbon along the entire length of the sleeve. We put on ballet flats in tone, blue or black. From above they can also be decorated with feathers.
