In nature, there are two species of these birds: green and ordinary. So, an ordinary peacock is slightly smaller in size and loses to him in the color of plumage. The plumage of his body and wings is a magnificent palette of bright blue, golden green and fiery red flowers. The only common sign that unites representatives of both sexes is the tail. Their courtship is like throwing a "dog in the manger", in other words, as soon as the female begins to show interest in the partner, he immediately folds his tail and turns away. And, on the contrary, if the female is cold, she walks again in all its glory, showing a bright color of the tail. The presence of a funny crest, located on the head of birds, can also be reckoned with the common signs characteristic of all peacocks. True, it is gray at the pava, and blue at the peacock. The representative of the green species is endowed with the same crest, slightly inclined to one side.
Wonderbird habitat
The birthplace of peacocks is considered India and the island of Sri Lanka. The climate here is tropical, with slight temperature fluctuations and high humidity. Favorite places for resettlement, to which peacocks give the most preference, are thickets and dense forests far from open areas. These birds have strong legs, so they quickly run and easily tack between shrubs and trees. It turns out the tail is not a tail at all
The object of admiration for many people, whose beauty has been said and written a lot, is the peacock's tail. However, what captivates the views of millions is not really a tail, but just a tail, consisting of many feathers of different lengths. The longest nugget feather reaches 1.5 meters, its tip has a special drop-shaped shape, most often painted in golden yellow or orange with a bright blue or green core. At the white peacock, the center of the pen and the droplet itself are snow-white. Feathers are arranged in a checkerboard pattern, apparently so that even when folded, the peacock tail does not lose its unearthly beauty. So nature came up with the joy of the human eye.
And yet, is the peacock flying?
Of course, to call peacocks migratory birds that can overcome several hundred and even thousands of kilometers, the language does not turn. But the photograph presented above is the answer to the question of whether the peacock is flying. In nature, they easily flip from a branch of one tree to another, provided that the trees can be separated by tens of meters. Birds fly away easily from a threat predator. True, peacocks take off very noisily, which creates an unprecedented fuss around them. Perhaps that is why they use their natural ability extremely rarely.
