Costumes are different: funny, comic, simple, complex and even very serious. Children's masquerade is not only outfits of bunnies, snowflakes and superheroes - professional uniforms occupy an important place in this list. Today we will talk about how to make a simple, but very cute costume cook. Its simplicity does not detract from the originality of such an outfit.
Dedicated to future chefs!
People who work in the kitchen, creating real masterpieces of culinary art, need to put on a work uniform on duty. The chefs, the heads of all pots, pans and cooks - this is a suit consisting of trousers and a cook jacket, a special cap crowns his head. But their assistants dress easier and more practical. A cook’s costume consists of an apron with one or more pockets and a cap.
It is not at all difficult to make such an outfit, because you don’t need to buy expensive material or additional attributes to sew it; you can always take what you can find in any kitchen - a cook, a couple of large spoons, a whisk. A cook's costume for a boy is usually a little restrained. To create it, it is better to use a white cloth, but you can revive the outfit by adding a few colored elements (blue, cyan, gray, motley check).
Main props
The preparation of this masquerade dress must begin with sewing an apron. It’s very easy to sew a cook’s costume with your own hands, because the apron in which the younger employee in the kitchen dresses is an elementary product in manufacturing.
Before starting work, you need to prepare a piece of fabric, the length of which is equal to one running meter, with a standard width of material of 150 cm, a sewing tool (scissors, tailor's chalk, needles, threads), a machine and the necessary accessories. The first photo shows that such an apron can be very easily diversified by decorating with cute and bright applications in the theme. It can be images of animals, plant motifs, and the favorite fairy-tale character of the baby, but it is precisely the “gastronomic” theme that will help create a real costume for the cook. The pattern of such an apron is presented below.
In the picture there are immediately three schematic images of the product, which differ in size. The pattern will help create the basis of the product, in addition to which you will need to design the upper eyelet, side ties and pockets.
Pink dream
It is impossible to imagine a real cook costume without a high cap. The photo shows that it can be done very simply. The photo shows that the cap is made of paper. The bezel is a thick cardboard with a pattern, and the “cap” itself is matched to the tone of corrugated paper. To make the first part, you need to cut a rectangle whose length is equal to the circumference of the child’s head, and the width to the height of the head. Corrugated paper is cut out in a large circle according to the formula: head radius * 4 + 1 cm per allowance. We fix the workpiece to the base with glue and form the tip with our hands.
Our proposed option is more suitable for a girl's outfit. Replacing pink tones with blue, it will be very simple to decorate a cook suit for a boy with such a cap.
If there is a desire and time to create a more solid headdress, make it out of fabric according to the same principle as with a paper cap. In order for the rim to be rigid and keep its shape, the fabric from which it will be sewn must be duplicated. The top is best made from a fairly dense, “standing” fabric - tulle, organza, coarse calico are ideal.
Fun party
Creating an image will be impossible if you do not work on trifles and finishing touches. The costume of the cook must be supplemented with real or fake cooking utensils. Do not use too oversized and heavy accessories - it will be difficult for the baby to carry them with him. You can come up with something useful: for example, provide the child with waffle tubes or chewing marmalade, with which he will treat his friends at the holiday.
Another option to diversify the costume, and at the same time to amuse the children is to make templates for the photo shoot. These are silhouettes of simple things - mustaches, glasses and caps attached to a high wooden skewer. They can be cut out of the simplest plain cardboard (white, black, color) or you can use beautiful embossed paper of high density from a material with a suitable print theme.
