We will conduct several workshops on the manufacture of silicone, felt, knitted, leather covers, as well as amazing bumpers from herbarium and a baby sock.
Herbarium cover
To make such a cover for a smartphone with your own hands, prepare:
- plastic plain cover in a suitable color;
- dried flowers, leaves, petals;
- a jar of sparkles;
- flat wooden stick, cotton buds;
- acetone;
- epoxy sealing resin from a hardware store;
- scissors;
- colorless glue.
To begin, think over the composition, applying flowers in various variations to the surface of the cover. As soon as the “same thing” is found, we take up the job:
- Take a picture of the perfect arrangement to build on it in the creative process.
- Try to stick large and light parts first, and on top smaller and darker ones - under the influence of resin the plants will turn pale and become more transparent. Sprinkle spangles at the end. Do not overdo it with details - the layer with vegetation should not be thicker than 1.5 mm.
- Following the instructions, dilute the resin with water one to one.
- Gently pour the solution into the center. Then smear over the entire surface of the picture, removing air bubbles.
- Make sure that the resin solution does not overflow over the surface of the composition - in this case, quickly wash it with cotton swabs dipped in acetone.
- A floral universal smartphone case will be ready after two hours of drying.
Silicone Case
Protective covers for the smartphone from silicone can be made by yourself using:
- silicone building sealant;
- spatula;
- dye of the desired color;
- scalpel or sharp knife;
- starch.
Before making a smartphone case with your own hands, be sure to wear rubber gloves.
- Mix 50 g of potato starch with about the same amount of sealant. Then knead this product to the consistency of plasticine, simultaneously adding dye so that the color is even.
- Roll out the mass with a rolling pin or bottle on a flat surface to the desired thickness.
- Tape all the phone’s holes with tape, then put it in the center of the resulting cake, squeezing this device a little into it.
- Then, using a spatula, bend the edges, making sure that the "pancake" fits perfectly on the smartphone.
- Be prepared for the fact that the phone will be in captivity of this mass from 12 hours to a day - so much substance needs to freeze.
- After removing the phone, first remove the excess on the front, then cut out the holes for the camera, charger, headphones - they should be printed.
Felt Case
Do-it-yourself felted cover for a smartphone using:
- thin felt (you can use fabrics of two contrasting colors);
- scissors;
- thread
- pins for sewing.
And with a sewing machine:
- Cut two identical rectangles - the outer and the inner side. It is necessary to take into account the length, width and thickness of the device, as well as an allowance of 5 mm on each side of the seams.
- On the outside, we cut one corner diagonally, so that in the future it becomes a convenient pocket.
- Then lay the parts one on top of the other (outer pocket on the outside), fold in the shape of the phone and sew, 4 mm from the edge.
- Felt does not crumble, so it is not necessary to process edges. If desired, decorate the product with a peculiar applique or patch - the universal cover for the smartphone has been created!
Smartphone Case
For this product you will need:
- leather or leatherette;
- thin piece of plastic;
- universal glue;
- two flat magnets;
- awl, knife, scissors.
A leather case for a smartphone of the “book” format is done like this:
- Cut out 2 pieces of the exact shape of the phone from plastic, on one of them make a slot for the camera.
- Glue the magnet to the “back” plastic in the right place.
- Glue both parts of the plastic onto the skin, leaving a distance between them equal to the thickness of the gadget.
- Wrap a piece of leather so as to completely hide the plastic inside it, glue it in the right places.
- From a piece of leather, wrapping a second magnet in it, form a fastener, gently stick it to the front.
- Do not forget to make the necessary cuts in the skin for the camera and other necessary holes.
- Using double-sided tape, glue the device to the case.
Knitted case
The most “cozy” case for a smartphone with your own hands can be made of yarn, namely to knit it. Not many materials will be needed:
- knitting needles;
- yarn;
- thread and needle.
Here you can use two methods:
- The easiest and fastest. Knit two identical canvases with your favorite pattern and sew them. Dial loops across the width of the smartphone and then knit in length. You can dial loops along the length of the device and knit already in its width.
- Knit "in one piece" - the way they knit socks. Dial the loops into two widths of the phone, and then divide into four knitting needles. Continue to knit according to the selected pattern, using only the front loops, until the length of the product is equal to the length of the smartphone.
You can crochet such a product, taking into account the first method.
Baby Sock Cover
Go shopping or order cute original baby socks through the online market. Do-it-yourself smartphone case can be easily made from them. You will also need scissors, a needle with a thread, various accessories for applications to your taste - beads, pendants, ribbons, rhinestones, etc.
- Cut the heel, sole of the foot and toes so that the rest is rectangular in shape.
- Sew open the hem.
- The remaining uncircumcised fabric, which was supposed to cover the top of the foot, fold up, sew on the sides - this will be a pocket.
- Decorate the creation with the trinkets you prepared - sew or gently glue them to this peculiar sock-case.
