Many gardeners like to grow tulips on their plots. They will attract admiring glances throughout the flowering period, as well as make any flower bed more vivid and attractive. One of the most beautiful representatives of this culture is the angelica tulip.
Plant description
"Angelica" refers to terry varieties of tulip. It differs from its relatives in a very delicate, white-pink color. Also, despite the average growth of the plant, about 35-40 centimeters, a large and weighty bud keeps firmly on the stem and does not fall earlier than the set time.
The flower itself reaches a height of 6 centimeters and a diameter of 9 cm. In appearance, it looks more like a peony, but very small and neat. Belongs to late grades.
Landing
Due to its small size, the Angelica tulip can be grown both in open ground and in containers at home. The best time for planting is considered the autumn period, when the air temperature drops to +9 ... + 10 degrees. In central Russia, this time falls at the end of September - beginning of October. It will bloom in mid-May and will delight with its beauty before the onset of hot weather.
In order for the flowerbed to look more fully and brightly, the Angelica tulip variety can be combined with other plants or the following planting scheme can be used:
- On average, 45-50 bulbs are used per square meter.
- The distance between the colors should be 10-20 centimeters.
- If you plant an Angelica tulip at home, then the depth of the pit will be 10 centimeters, for street plants it is better to increase this figure to 15-20 centimeters. This is necessary so that the bulbs do not freeze in the winter and are reliably protected by a fertile layer of soil.
- It is best to choose a place with open and bright light, while being protected from harsh winds and cold.
Plant care
The Angelica Tulip is very responsive to various top dressings. With their help, you can increase the viability of the plant. Urea and superphosphates are well suited as fertilizers, they are applied in the following periods:
- During the appearance of the first shoots.
- During the formation of buds.
- In the phase of active growth and flowering.
This variety should be watered moderately, preventing the drying of the soil. The hydration intensity is best increased during the flowering period, when the tulip needs additional strength to form buds. Like any other culture, they need to be loosened and weeded in time to provide the root system with timely access of oxygen.
Another undoubted advantage of the variety is its high resistance to various diseases and pests.
At the end of flowering, a terry tulip "angelica" must be dug up. Given the "soil fatigue", the place of planting bulbs should be changed every 4-5 years.
This variety is an adornment of any flowerbed or alpine hill. After cutting, it will look great in a bouquet, complementing it with delicate colors. Also, its unusual structure and terry petals will make any composition more elegant and exotic.
