A hooligan cap, or, as it is also called, an eight-blade, is an old, but still popular attribute of a men's wardrobe. It helps to recreate the characteristic style of the early 20th century. Such a headdress was popular among the proletariat, workers' factories and factories. In those days, they did not know modern sewing technologies, therefore the hooligan cap was often made of natural materials - woolen cloth, cotton, linen, leather. The model was distributed around the world, the eight-blade was worn by New York dockers, Chicago gangsters, representatives of the working class of Paris, and the working people of Germany. However, it was popular in tsarist Russia at the beginning of the century. They wear caps of such a cut and now, moreover, this headdress can be seen on both men and girls who seek to dress in a kid's style.
How to choose an eight-blade cap
The universality of the model is undeniable. It is worn both in the summer, and in the fall, and in the winter, only the material from which the
cap is sewn changes
. For the cold season, choose caps made of natural wool or thick woolen cloth. It is good if there is a cotton lining inside - it will not allow the main material to quickly wear out and become dirty, it will absorb sweat. A quality hooligan cap has well-crafted seams, pay attention to this before buying.
We sew caps with our own hands
But to make such a fashionable headdress is not difficult at all.

You will need a dense fabric and a piece of material for the lining. Also, buy a plastic liner of the desired shape in the store to get a solid visor. We proceed to the pattern. We draw a vertical line 26 cm long, divide it in half and go down from the middle down 2 cm. But the length of the horizontal line depends on the volume of the cap, for our sample we will make it 6-centimeter. Cap sizes require head circumference measurement. Taken your measurements? Then divide the resulting figure by 8 - this is the number of wedges. The result of the division is the lower horizontal, the length of the βbottomβ of each wedge. As a result, we get a pattern that is a bit similar in shape to the sole of the iron. It remains to attach it to the fabric, circle, leaving 0.5 cm to the seam, and cut out 8 identical parts. In the same way we cut out the lining. Making the visor easy is as simple as just circle the insert (don't forget about the seam allowances!).
And now we cut a crochet for our cap - this is how tailors call a strip of fabric on the inside of a hat or beret that covers the seams. To do this, set aside a line equal to the length of the head circumference, plus 2 cm per seam. It will be long, and 6 cm is enough for the width of the staple. To prevent your bully cap from losing shape, glue all the parts with non-woven fabric. This method is much more convenient and practical than starch. Rapper caps are also made . Using a sewing machine, combine all the details - and your unique hooligan cap is ready! This model is just a godsend for creative natures, it can be worn in at least three versions: in classic, on one side, shifted to the back of the head. You can dream up and come up with your own unique image.
