Australia ranks first in the world in the number and variety of all kinds of poisonous creatures. And danger awaits a person not only on land in the form of spiders and snakes, but also on the sea. Not all visitors know who the Australians call the sea wasp. It was this name that the most poisonous ocean inhabitant - the jellyfish Kubo was awarded. Meeting with any member of the jellyfish tribe is in itself unpleasant, but a person who encounters Kubo usually does not survive.
What do Australians call the sea wasp?
In itself, this creation is relatively small - in diameter reaches a maximum of 45 centimeters. The dome resembles a cube with smooth corners. Four processes are located on it, with 15 tentacles extending from each of them. When the jellyfish swims, the processes are reduced to 40 centimeters, but in a relaxed state they reach an average of one and a half meters - and for large individuals even five meters. This creature is especially dangerous because of its transparency, which is why it is almost impossible to consider a “cubic” jellyfish in water.
A poisonous animal is a predator. The basis of the diet is shrimp, small crabs and small fish. Having dismissed the tentacles, the jellyfish “rests”, waiting for prey. As soon as she touches one of the bowed, the hunter immediately strikes. Scientists claim that the attack speed of this jellyfish exceeds the attack speed of a snake or spider. The poison contained in the tentacles is deadly to all inhabitants of the sea and land, with the exception of the sea turtle, which is the only enemy that the Australian sea wasp should be wary of. And this poison is so much that Kubo can simultaneously injure up to 60 people.
Now you know who the Australians call the sea wasp (probably because it can sting). And given that the jellyfish stings more than once, a person has no chance of surviving a collision with her.
Consequences of the meeting
Everyone who knows whom the Australians call the sea wasp are afraid of this creature, which is extremely dangerous for humans. When the tentacles of the Kubo jellyfish touch the skin, the victim is pierced by so much pain that most lose consciousness and drown. In some, the heart stops from pain. Stronger people who came in contact with only one strikel and managed to get to the shore, still died from respiratory paralysis. Pathologists found that the airways of the victims were blocked by mucus, similar to foam; some have had cerebral hemorrhage. Sometimes a person did not die immediately, but after a few hours in terrible agony.
Vacationers, do not bother rescuers!
Given the danger to bathers, in the season when jellyfish migrate (October - March), nets are installed to prevent entry into the coastal zone. However, small individuals nevertheless seep through the cells, therefore it is strictly forbidden to enter the water in dangerous areas, and warning boards are placed in less dangerous places. And do not neglect them, complicating the life of the rescuers and risking their own. Jellyfish sea wasp has such a quick and dangerous poison that in the case of "close acquaintance" with it, no one can help.
