The Internet quickly burst into our lives, and now everyone knows that the most important thing is a search engine. Without it, you will be completely entangled in this world wide web. The history of the Russian-language Internet begins with "Rambler" - the first search engine Runet. And it begins with the Pushchino Research Center, in which a team of like-minded people developed the first Russian search engine. Sergey Lysakov worked in such a team.
Biography
Parents of Sergei Lysakov worked as geologists. Therefore, Sergei was born in the north-west of Romania - in Transylvania, in 1957. Three months later, the family left for Essentuki, where Sergei’s grandfather lived. My father continued to work on an expedition that explored uranium deposits.
As a boy, Sergei often visited his father in geological parties. “Geologists had all kinds of lamps and transistors, interesting glands,” recalls Sergey Lysakov. And with this, perhaps, the fascination with radio electronics began. As far as he remembers, he constantly made all kinds of electronic gizmos.
Right vector
In incomplete 16 years he graduated from high school. At that time, endless experiments were carried out in education, so that it could be completed at the age of 15. I was lucky with the school. Teachers educated them with personalities, says Sergey Lysakov. Because of this, personal life turned out well because it was at school that a vector of further development was set.
The teaching staff was very strong. A physicist came to school from a university, and often supplemented his subject with philosophy. They made us think, analyze and draw conclusions. Stories were taught by people who had seen a lot in life, past the war. Often, mathematics lessons went beyond the scope of the program. All this taken together, probably, gave a desire to study.
Education and first job
He got his first specialty - a radio controller, at a factory, where he worked for a year right after school. The plant produced equipment for research related to isotopes. In the team, all employees constantly invented something. Then there was the Moscow Aviation Institute, where Sergei Lysakov studied at the Faculty of Radio Electronics of Aircraft. The institute also formed a peculiar circle of communication from teachers and students, which was very useful for the development of further knowledge and consciousness.
The specialized enterprise for the Department of Radio Electronics was NPO Astrophysics. It was there that Sergey Vladimirovich was able to participate for the first time in the revolutionary direction at that time - in the creation of a laser gun. Then they had to create lenses based on crystals with their own hands. In a word, I personally tried and saw a lot of breakthrough technologies.
Science Center
In 1980, after graduation, the IBPM (Institute of Biochemistry and Physiology of Microorganisms) worked in Pushchino. There was a memorable meeting for Sergei with like-minded people, including Dmitry Kryukov. Over time, a team began to form from caring and talented people.
Since 1987, Sergey Lysakov has been the head of a computer center at the IBPM. That year, work began on creating a collection of microorganisms. The role of their team was to give the project a programmatic and technological basis. Including the task was to ensure communication of scientific resources with colleagues abroad. And then the laying of the first IP-channel began.
The network was built together with nuclear scientists from Antino, working at CERN. In parallel, a base of microorganism strains was created, which became part of the international collection. It was impossible to get a dedicated channel at that time, but thanks to the efforts of the director of their research center, it was still possible.
In those years, science was not easy. It was necessary to somehow survive, and in 1991 the center’s employees created the company Stack, which was engaged in the development of the telecommunication network in Pushchino. If earlier the search was done only for biologists, then they decided to cover the West Internet. At that time, everyone who made the Internet knew each other. First of all, these were those who had access to it at the enterprises (engineers, programmers).
Rambler’s Birthday
At first, when the sites just appeared, it was difficult to navigate them. There were teleconferences - boards where the addresses of sites on various topics were posted, sites were transmitted by e-mail. In a word, word of mouth. Despite this, new pages quickly appeared on the Internet. By the time of the launch of Rambler, in 1996, there were about a thousand of them. Sergei Vladimirovich says that at that time they understood that now the appearance of sites would grow, and the need for search was great. And they decided to teach the Internet to speak Russian.
The whole team was aware that such a project would require considerable costs. So, thanks to the efforts of Dmitry Kryukov and their entire team, the Rambler appeared, recalls Sergey Lysakov. The date of birth of the search engine is October 8, 1996, the whole team believes so unanimously. At that time, a unique product that combines the capabilities of a rating system and a search engine. It was the first and only, at that time, Russian information retrieval system. Now it seems like an ABC, but then it was an innovation.
“No one has the right to a miracle,” as the famous author Sergey Vasilyevich Lukyanenko writes in one of his books. Lysakov (photo below) with his team proved with their own example that for what now seems to be taken for granted, there are many years of hard work. The project was initially unprofitable, the first money was earned on the Rambler in 1997. But after 2 years it became the most popular resource. Its further development as a portal required investment. Therefore, there was a decision to sell it. In 1999, they sold 53% of the shares for $ 1 million. Thus began a new stage in the company - the arrival of investors.
Office for computers
The team started a promising new direction - the creation of data centers. A kind of technological platform for companies whose main activity was not the functioning of the IT service. Abroad, this type of service was gaining momentum, but in Russia there was no such practice. The team had experience - the first such cent they built back in 1987 in Pushchino, it was used as an IT platform for Internet projects. Then there was a data center with 200 servers in the Science Park of Moscow State University.
In a word, by 2001 they were well versed in these issues and had a clear idea of what a data center should be. In 2003, Sergey Lysakov ventured to try his hand. The construction of a unique office center for IT companies has begun. A kind of business center with special rooms for computer equipment with autonomous energy supply, which guaranteed uninterrupted operation. Even then it became clear that this is a niche that is in demand and not occupied by anyone.
Family carriage
Sergey Lysakov is the CEO of Stack Group, which continues to work on new technologies, and is developing modular solutions for data centers. According to Sergey Vladimirovich, soon subscribers will gain access to new technologies, the Internet will be a thing of the past and the new computer era will turn all ideas about the capabilities of IT technologies upside down.
The whole family - a son, a wife, with whom Lysakov studied on the same course, work in the same company. Sergey Vladimirovich has been heading the Formula Trial for several years now, organized this sports series together with like-minded people. With his son Dmitry, they created a proto-class car - a unique car with 54-inch wheels, active suspension and all-wheel drive.
Family crew - Dmitry and Sergey Lysakov (photo above) participate in extreme races. Sergey Vladimirovich is a person who likes to solve new problems. As he said in an interview that the drive that he is experiencing from the results of work in the development of IT technology is comparable to the sensations from racing in a jeep trial.
