A wide range of such products is presented on the modern construction market. All of them have different design, application technology and operational characteristics. To date, the most popular are types of facade materials such as:
- natural and artificial stone;
- wood and vinyl siding;
- porcelain tiles and clinker tiles ;
- facing brick;
- decorative plaster.
To make a choice, you need to better learn about the properties of each of these materials, since they all have their own advantages and disadvantages.
A few words about porcelain tile
These relatively inexpensive high-tech materials for facade decoration of the house have all the advantages inherent in natural stone. They are produced by pressing clay and marble chips. Thus obtained plates are fired in special furnaces, the temperature in which reaches about 1200-1400 degrees. Thanks to this treatment, porcelain stoneware has high strength. It is almost impossible to split. Mounted on the wall plate reliably protect it from mechanical damage. The only significant drawback of this material can be considered not too aesthetic appearance.
Most often it is used for decorating corporate, office, office and administrative buildings. In private construction, it is practically not used. Despite all of the above, such facade materials are suitable for finishing buildings located in areas with a continental climate.
Decorative plaster
This is one of the most common ways to decorate the exterior of a building. Such facade materials allow you to create a variety of textured surfaces that can subsequently be painted. The main function of the plaster is to level the surface of the walls. At the same time, this coating is a heater and reliable protection against the adverse effects of external factors. The only significant disadvantage of decorative plaster can be considered the complexity of its application. This process is time consuming and requires certain skills.
Facing brick
Despite the external differences from the building analogue, such facade materials do not burn and perfectly retain heat. They give the house a complete look, making it look like the mansion of the aristocratic nobility. So that the facing brick does not absorb excess moisture, it is necessary to ensure the presence of horizontal waterproofing of the foundation. The building, whose facade is decorated with similar material, will not only be presentable in appearance, but also warm inside.
Cladding brick is made by heat treatment of clay in special furnaces. This is a fairly durable material with an unlimited service life. For its installation, ordinary cement mortar is used.
Clink Thermal Panels
These are relatively new facade materials. However, they have already managed to gain some popularity among domestic consumers. Such products are a complex system consisting of a clinker base, plastic and foam.
Relatively inexpensive clinker panels have a number of significant disadvantages. Therefore, they are most often used for decorating the facades of country houses. Among the main disadvantages of this material is the fact that over time, condensate forms under it, penetrating the wall of the building and contributing to the appearance of mold and fungi.
A natural stone
This group includes fairly expensive facade materials, including quartzite, sandstone, tuff, granite, slate and marble. All of them do not require complicated maintenance and have an unlimited service life. So, some varieties of limestone are used for the construction of load-bearing walls, others for their cladding. The only difference between them is their appearance. Natural stone is considered one of those few materials that have no flaws.
Finishing the facade with granite or marble is a rather time-consuming and very expensive process. The aesthetics and durability of the coating largely depends on how well the facing works were carried out. Finishing made in violation of the technological process begins to peel off over time, causing partial destruction of the structure, and sometimes rotting of the walls. Those living in humid areas should understand that moss may appear on some varieties of stone. However, this does not affect the structure of the material.
Siding
This is one of the easiest and most affordable ways to decorate facades. Due to the variety of shades and textures of siding, it can be used to realize any, even the most daring design ideas. It will not only embellish your home, but also reliably protect it from rain and wind.
The most popular today is vinyl siding. Despite the fact that visually this material resembles planks for cladding facades, it is more durable and wear-resistant. Siding is easy to clean, does not fade, does not rot and does not collapse under the influence of corrosion. In addition, dirt practically does not stick to it.
To decorate the facade with this material, it is not at all necessary to contact specialists. You can do it yourself. On the walls of the building, a wooden crate is pre-constructed, to which siding panels are subsequently attached.
