Application of Izospan for vapor barrier of roofs and walls

Recently, Izospan has been increasingly used to protect walls and roofs of residential buildings from condensation. This material is good because it is mounted on the outer surface of the walls, while closing it with any cladding material and does not "steal" the interior space of the rooms. Therefore, the use of Izospan for several years in a row is almost the standard procedure of any self-respecting construction company.

This material is produced in the form of a film, the outer side of which has pronounced water-repellent properties, and the inner surface has a rough structure designed to hold condensate droplets, which are subsequently released into the environment. Thus, the use of Izospan guarantees complete protection of the insulation layer from getting wet.

In addition, the general characteristics of the insulation itself in this case are also significantly enhanced, and its service life is greatly increased. Given that the production of this vapor barrier is carried out using the most modern polymers, it has the following advantages:

  1. Retains all its technical characteristics for a long period of time.
  2. It does not emit any harmful substances into the environment (however, isospan does not emit anything at all).
  3. Extremely simple and easy to install.
  4. It has high tensile strength, without analogues in this indicator.
  5. In addition, the use of Izospan guarantees the immunity of thermal insulation to the action of fungi, mold and even aggressive chemical environments.

use of isospan
If roof insulation is performed , then the material is rolled out and fixed directly on top of the insulation. Quite often, the question arises as to which side to put Izospan on. We answer: it is necessary to draw the smooth side outward, as well as to lay the material with an overlap. The overlap of the canvas at the junction should be at least 15 cm. Do not forget that you need to leave a gap of about 7-8 cm with a ventilation function near the ridge.

Fixing "Izospan" is carried out using wooden slats, impregnated with high-quality antiseptic composition for wooden structures.

Although the Isospan vapor barrier film has rather good mechanical strength, it should be fixed very carefully: a couple of extra holes will cause moisture to get on the insulation, causing it to rot and spoil.

which side to put isospan

In no case should we forget that between the film and the insulation there must be a ventilation gap of at least 3-5 cm, since otherwise the condensate accumulated on the back side will not evaporate, remaining in the insulation layer. It is very important: the use of Izospan implies that the material should be fixed strictly in a taut state, leaving minimal slack for thermal expansions. This will prevent contact between the film and the insulation, which leads to the formation of a โ€œbridgeโ€ along which the condensate flows back into the layer of heat-insulating material.

The lower edge of the vapor barrier must go into the gutter, through which the accumulated water will be discharged into the external environment. The space under the roof itself must be provided with normal ventilation for the timely removal of part of the condensate. To do this, a number of ventilation holes should be provided.
