Drywall slopes - quickly, efficiently, independently

Each of us is trying our best to improve our home, make it more comfortable, warm and safe. Therefore, the owners of apartments in old houses are changing the long-obsolete doors and windows for more modern and advanced. However, as a rule, not a single new door or window fits perfectly in the opening, as a result of which the slopes have to be finished again . Plastering of door and window slopes with stucco is considered one of the most common and budgetary methods , but this process is rather time-consuming. Yes, and the payment for the work itself costs much more than the money spent on the purchase of building material, as well as the effort to daily clean up dirt and dust, which will certainly accompany any plastering work.

But there is also a worthy alternative to this such a time-consuming option - plasterboard slopes that allow you to arrange a window or door in the shortest possible time, and even without any special financial costs, because such work will be quite affordable for any home craftsman.

Drywall is an amazing material in its characteristics. It is easy to cut, has a wonderful smooth surface, does not require a long finish, is well restored. In addition, it is not only ordinary, but also moisture resistant, so the window slopes made from it do not swell from dampness, but serve the owner faithfully for many years.

Plasterboard slopes can be made in two ways, each of which is suitable for both doors and windows - this material can be attached to metal profiles inserted into openings with self-tapping screws or put on special glue. Both options are good enough, and the work itself is not too laborious, requiring no special qualifications.

So, how to make slopes from drywall? The first step is to make all the necessary measurements, then transfer the dimensions to the drywall and cut the appropriate pieces. It is necessary to measure in such a way that the upper part of the slope overlaps the side ones, which will allow the received elements to be applied tightly to each other, without gaps and gaps.

If it is decided to mount the slopes from drywall on glue, then the door and window openings must be thoroughly cleaned and primed. After preparation, you must dilute the purchased glue (according to the instructions that are always on the packaging), apply it to the cut drywall, which is then applied to the surface to be treated. Excess glue can be squeezed out, and the installation accuracy can be checked with a building level. Drywall slopes are almost ready. It remains only to give them time to dry completely, after which you can proceed to the finish.

The installation of slopes on the profile will also not cause special difficulties. In this type of finish, the surface does not require preliminary preparation, it is enough to cut pieces of vertical and horizontal profiles that are suitable in size, fix them in window or door openings, and then screw the prepared slopes from drywall with screws. The only “but”: when mounting slopes in this way, it is advisable to fill the voids between the profiles with mineral wool or polystyrene, which will help the structure better retain heat.

As for the final finish, it is also completely simple. It is enough to putty the surface of drywall, after drying, peel with a sandpaper, and then paint.

Making slopes from drywall with your own hands is quite simple, the work does not take much time, but it allows you to save a very substantial amount, which the real owner will always find worthy use.
