The Regional Art Museum (the city of Kurgan) is the owner of one of the most comprehensive collections of Russian painting in the Trans-Urals of the twentieth century. The museum has become the main center for the collection, preservation and promotion of the creativity of the Ural artists of the modern period.

Having begun work in 1982, the art museum (Kurgan) immediately began to conduct not only exposition, but also public work. Museum of Art (Kurgan) is actively involved in grant projects aimed at working with children, adolescents and youth. Collections and exhibits
The Museum of Art (Kurgan is justifiably proud of it) has collected collections in all areas of fine art - paintings, graphics, watercolors, sculptures, arts and crafts, creative works of Orthodox subjects and theatrical and decorative art. There are unique works by Fonvizin and Soifertis, Savinov and Deineka, Razumovskaya and Shegal. Kurgan artists provided the museum with more than 300 of their watercolors.
Iconography of the end of the 18th century, old-printed, manuscript books and metallography - all this adorns the section of decorative and applied art.
The museum exhibits can be traced to the development of Russian and foreign painting, to compare different art schools and styles of the former Soviet republics. In addition, the museum has an extensive library of books on art and a large scientific archive of works by Ural artists - the largest in the Trans-Urals.
