A beautiful fluffy beauty on the site - blue spruce - is the dream of almost every owner of a private house. You can buy ready-made seedlings, however, this is quite an expensive pleasure, but you can independently grow it from seeds, by the method of cuttings or grafting.
Let us dwell in more detail on what and how to do so that the blue spruce grows, the reproduction of which will be with the help of seeds.
What should be the soil
Before breeding a tree in any way, you must correctly select the area on which blue spruce will grow. You can not use the land that previously had corn, potatoes or other crops damaged by fungal diseases, as this is fraught with infection of the fir trees with Fusarium mushrooms.
When planting, it is necessary to add soil taken from under conifers in the forest to the soil, since it contains fungal hyphae that contribute to good development. They help the roots better absorb trace elements from the soil.
The earth also needs to be fertilized with peat with fertilizers in the following proportions: 20 g of azofoska, 35 g of limestone flour per peat bucket (mix everything thoroughly so that there are no lumps). Seeds are poured on top, and on them is a mixture of peat with coniferous sawdust, it is easy to break through seedlings through such mulch, since there is no surface dense crust.
A place for planting a tree
When choosing a place, it is necessary to take into account that blue spruce has a powerful root system, therefore, over time, it will oppress and obscure other cultures. In addition, the soil under coniferous trees is acidified, so few plants can withstand such conditions. This is also one of the reasons why very rarely you can see any plants under pines and firs.
Seed preparation
Before getting seeds from cones, they (cones) must be dried in a cloth bag, then they open better, it will be easier to get seeds. Stack them in the same bag and gently rub, freeing from lionfish. Then pour into a jar, which is placed in the refrigerator for storage.
For the blue spruce to grow, the planting should be at a time when night frost has passed and the ground has warmed up. This is best done from June 20th to 25th. Before planting, the seeds are soaked for a day in a 1% solution of potassium permanganate, and then slightly dried.
Seed planting
Five pieces are planted in the wells and sprayed with water twice a day. Do not water abundantly, as overmoistening creates a favorable environment for the occurrence of fungal diseases. In late August, seedlings thin out, leaving the strongest and highest tree.
Seedlings are selected by color after three to four years.
Propagation by cuttings
Cuttings of blue spruce root in a greenhouse or greenhouse (do not root in open ground) with high humidity. It will be better if you use a fogging plant. Blue spruce propagates by both summer and winter cuttings, but winter take root 3-4 times faster than summer. As a rule, it takes 2.5-3 months.
And the last, to grow a tree of fifteen meters in height, it will take at least 30 years.
