For better or worse, modern Russian speech is constantly replenished with foreign words, the meaning of which is not yet clear to everyone. Hence the completely justified desire to understand what these new concepts mean. Well, for example, what are mixes?
About the meaning of the word
Translated from English, the word mix means “mixture” or “process of mixing” (mixing). Since almost everything can be combined, the concept of a mix is not something strictly defined. What they mixed - they got it!
We are most familiar with food mixes: we are used to combining ingredients for different dishes (often with the help of a device that is called a mixer). Looking at the packages with juices on the shelves, along with the usual tomato or apple, we find mixes of different vegetables and fruits. When studying the packaging of tea or coffee, we often find the inscription "a mixture of the best varieties." A typical sample of a mix is a familiar cocktail, when a number of components are mixed to obtain a certain taste.
Mix in music
The musician has a different answer to the question of what mixes are. In a musical environment, a mix is a continuous sequence of compositions (tracks) that are similar in mood or genre. They are composed by DJs for different purposes - for example, for radio broadcasts. A characteristic feature of such mixes is that the change of tracks occurs smoothly, without silence in the sound. In order for the sound at the transition to appear uniform, the tracks must coincide in dimension, tempo and other features. The duration of the music mix can be several minutes or several hours.
There is another idea of what mixes are. This may not be sequential, as in the previous case, but a parallel mixing of several audio tracks to obtain a complete composition. For example, mixing the sound of musical instruments and the vocalist's performance to record a single whole - a song.

You can connect not only products or sounds, sometimes even melee techniques are mixed. Some fans of such sports are interested in: what is a mix fight? This is a derivative of the English words mix fighting - "mix fight."
Mixed martial arts are a combination of different directions and martial arts techniques. Their history goes back to the era of the first Olympics, where the ancient Greeks organized competitions in pankration. The types of mixed martial arts were constantly transformed and took special shape in different countries. Competitions in mixed styles (for example, a fighter against a boxer) at the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century were very popular in the Far East and Europe. For example, in England during the time of Arthur Conan Doyle, there was a martial art of Bartitsu, a mixture of Asian and European teachings, the possession of which the writer appropriated to his beloved hero. In the Soviet Union, there was also an effective version of mixed martial arts - sambo.
And yet, until the 90s of the last century, such techniques were not very popular. One of the reasons is their resemblance to a bloody sport, fights without rules. The early mixed martial arts competitions really lacked restrictions, which affected the safety of athletes. Now this shortcoming has been eliminated, and this sport is considered one of the most dynamically developing.
A bit about counter-strike
Another mention of the word "mix" can be found in the already counter-classic game Counter Strike (KS). What is a mix in COP? Although not, first a few words about what the game is.
Its main idea is the confrontation between terrorists and special forces. In CS, large groups of users who find each other on the Internet are simultaneously fighting. A mix is a kind of team of such players, and this term is not accidental here: suitable partners in the game are in a difficult way, reminiscent of mixing.
About smoking mixes
Unfortunately, a lot of people to the question of what mixes will give an answer - what they smoke. Flavored mixtures of herbs that change the human mind, have been known since ancient times. Shamans and sorcerers used their effect for their rites, and in the East, smoke from such mixtures was used to meditate or bring a person into a trance state. The Europeans, of course, knew about all these eastern "amusements", but they really discovered them relatively recently - by the mid-2000s.
So what are smoking mixes and how to relate to them? Since about 2007, the European and Russian markets have been, as they say, clogged with herbal mixtures. This product, directly affecting the human psyche, has become very popular - especially in youth circles. Its sale was carried out quite legally, without restrictions and even with advertising about the useful properties of the product. And only later the doctors sounded the alarm: the product is harmful! In people who used smoking mixes, the appearance of drug addiction was recorded, a psychotropic effect was noted. As studies have shown, the use of herbal mixtures provoked an increase in the number of diseases of the respiratory tract and bronchi, the appearance of malignant tumors. A ubiquitous fight is now being waged against the infernal smoking potion. And it is right.
