The Sims is one of the most popular games that have ever been released to PCs and consoles. This project began its existence in 2000. To date, it is a series of games with hundreds of add-ons and mods.
Genre
The project’s genre is as close as possible to the sandbox, although it became independent after the appearance of this game. The Sims does not set any goals for the gamer. With the exception of those versions and additions that require the player to complete missions and receive achievements.
In the game you need to create sims (virtual characters), monitor their mood, health and develop them. You can buy ready-made houses, or you can start construction from scratch: think over the layout, interior and buy furniture. With each new series of "Sims" the project provides more and more opportunities for gameplay. And add-ons send the player to a special world. For example, you can visit the city of Rorin Heights.
The third part
The Sims 3 was announced in 2008 and a year later it was released. The game was long-awaited and popular, since again it promised a lot of innovations that would diversify the gameplay. Single-player mode and life simulator remained the key parameters of this project.
The main feature of the novelty was the development of an open world. They started working on this idea back in 2006. It was necessary to radically change something, since the second part has already outlived itself, even despite the mass of additions.
Naturally, such innovations had a positive effect on sales, and Sims 3 was ahead of its predecessor, becoming the most popular project of that time. The third series is also considered the largest in terms of released add-ons and catalogs, one of which was Sims 3: Rorin Heights. He will be discussed further.
Third Series Supplements
A total of 11 DLCs were released, which were radically different from each other. Some of them have even become more popular than the main part. "Adventure World" appeared six months after the release of The Sims 3. The player was able to travel to Egypt, China and France. The developers added puzzles and quests in the spirit of "Indiana Jones."
Six months later, the “Career” supplement opened, in which many new professions and skills for Sims were added. “At Twilight” - DLC for party-goers, those who love nightlife and clubs. But to diversify the monotonous gameplay, the developers took care of the existence of vampires.
"All ages" allowed players to learn about the features of age and the events that occur with the sim in different periods of his life. More holidays and sweet memories have appeared.
"Pets" is one of the most beloved additions of many symphans. Now everyone has the opportunity to have a virtual pet. And it’s not necessary to buy a familiar dog or cat. You could get a lizard and even a unicorn.
In Show Business, the player had to go the way of a superstar. But the supplement did not become popular and turned out to be too boring for many. What can not be said about the "Supernatural." Here the gamer could plunge into the fantastic world of various creatures. Werewolves, zombies, fairies and witches began to roam the streets, and in the meantime, the preparation of elixirs and potions began in the houses.
“Seasons” brought a change of weather with them, and “Student Life” helped to completely plunge into the atmosphere of study, exams and parties. "Paradise Islands" radically changed the location of the usual game "Sims". The description of the opportunities for the players attracted a large number of gamers, but not everyone was satisfied. Not everyone liked managing resorts or exploring the depths of the sea.
And the latest addition was Forward to the Future. It allowed us to look at a world in which the level of technology development is much higher. The player was able to fly on a jetpack and in a "turbolift".

So that the gamer could go to Rorin Heights, the developers gave the opportunity to buy this city for sympots or to purchase a box with a key. It had to be entered on the official website of the game. In addition to the new location, which was noticeably different from the usual ones, the player received exclusive items. From 2011 to 2013, 10 cities for Sims 3 were released. The addition of Rorin Heights cannot be considered an official DLC, since it only changed the location, but in no way affected the gameplay. It was this city that became the tenth on the list and appeared on December 13, 2013.
New city: description and features
The top ten new cities for The Sims 3 included previously unknown Rorin Heights. All new locations were very different from each other. The player could be transported to a beach resort, to a mountainous area, a green oasis, a human colony, etc. The tenth city offered to visit and live in a metropolis. The developers added a bit of vintage style and luxury here.
The description of “Sims 3: Rorin Heights” refers to the fact that in this place live Sims who lead a luxurious and eventful life, and the city itself is a promising metropolis with noisy beaches and a sea of entertainment.
City purchase
To start traveling with Rorin Heights, you had to choose from two purchase options. In the "Golden Edition" for 1300 rubles, the player received 1900 sympoints, a car in retro style, but requiring repair, the ability to walk along the promenade, as well as the city itself. “Standard Edition” for 1000 rubles assumed 100 sympots and all the same, but without walking along the promenade. Those who nevertheless purchased the Golden Edition, many players recommended buying the Naberezhnaya institution for sympoints, with which exclusive materials, Roller Coaster, were opened.
History
The city of Rorin Heights has its own story, which everyone who has acquired the add-on will hear. She is told by the Contessa couple and Consort Kapp. They talk about their vacation in the metropolis. Share their impressions of romantic sunsets and vibrant nightlife. Contessa and Consort talk about art deco, which is embodied in almost every detail of this city, and about the neon lights of the beach. The couple are already looking for a good option for housing and, perhaps, they will become our neighbors.
Location
In Sims 3, Rorin Heights is introduced as a city on an island. And you understand this not from the words of the developers, but when you inspect the area from a bird's eye view. The island is surrounded by the ocean and is full of bays, streams and lakes.
With tap water, everything is fine here. There are no problems with toilets and showers. Even in gyms there are special booths in which there is always water.
A huge number of bridges are scattered throughout the city for such a small location. They connect small areas that are separated by bays. In total, the city of Rorin Heights has about 8 bridges. At night, the area becomes magical. Skyscrapers are lit by bright lights, and on the beaches there are many buildings with neon lights and garlands.
Housing
In the city of Rorin Heights (“Sims 3”), a huge number of high-rise buildings that immediately “hopefully” look at newcomers. The main character is already dreaming of settling on the 100th floor to wake up every morning and watch the sunrise and the ocean. But it was not there. In skyscrapers, of course, there are apartments that you can buy. The apartments here are really chic. Some may occupy an entire floor or two at once. But they are all located at the bottom of the building. And what is up there, no one will ever know.
Despite the positioning of the city of Rorin Heights in Sims 3 as luxurious and rich, there are no gadgets here. This is worth remembering, because, in addition to luxury and wealth, the location is made in retro style. Therefore, no smartphones, televisions and computers. To watch a movie, you have to go to the cinema.
It is worth mentioning that the apartments have only bathrooms, and if you need a shower, you will need to buy it yourself. At the same time, the player may experience cognitive dissonance, because, despite all the surrounding luxury, everything turns out to be somewhat rustic. And finally, about whether you are rich or poor, everyone and everyone will know only by looking at your home. For some reason, the developers have focused on mansions and simple houses, there is no middle ground here.
Transport
Buying any edition of the Roerin Heights add-on, the player receives a retro car that needs repair. It is also interesting that in the whole metropolis there is not a single workshop, which means that you will have to repair the car yourself. But in general, the result is really worth it, since everyone in this city would like to drive on such a cool car.
If the first repair was successful, this does not mean that you can stop there. You can finish the car constantly, changing everything in it. This cabriolet turned out to be very romantic, although not always practical, because in the rain or snow the sim is not very comfortable.
Infrastructure
Rorin Heights in “Sims 3” seems to be a powerful city, so you expect from it all kinds of structures and various useful establishments. In the city center there is a town hall. This is a government building where you can allegedly get all the public services. On it, the developers placed the image of the sims from the main series, which in the city of the 30s seems inappropriate and frighteningly strange.
The town square is one of the attractions. It looks beautiful and expensive. Around palm trees, manicured alleys and fountains. In the middle is a beautiful arch, somewhat reminiscent of the one in Paris. But for some reason inside it there are only toilets.
A police station called the Golden Guard literally hints to everyone that the building is indeed made of gold. It’s even hard to imagine what is inside this skyscraper.
The city library turned out quite good, which still raises some questions. There are very, very few books here. Either this is another hint that the city was created for parties and entertainment, and nobody needs “boring” books here, or the developers were too lazy to finish a couple of shelving units. In any case, the Sims come here, probably for communication and stories about nightlife.
The cinema offers movies. But in the museum you can really find a lot of interesting things. What is one monument, which is located on the roof of the building and to which there is no way to get. There are not many sculptures and paintings inside the museum, but there is more than enough modern furniture here. You can even open your own store. Or stay here to live, because it was here that put up computers and televisions, as well as comfortable showers.
In addition to all this, there are a couple of shops where you can buy books or go to the grocery store. The beauty salon provides standard services. There are a couple of buildings designed for offices. The Sims 3 has a Rorin Heights Academy, hospital, shelter, and cemetery.
Professions
Unlike the Oasis of Landing, in Rorin Heights you can safely continue your career and do what you love, while making money. Here are available:
- public office;
- work at the police station;
- journalism in one of the office skyscrapers;
- work as a doctor in a local hospital;
- cooking in a restaurant or cafe;
- playing sports;
- acting skills;
- scientific discoveries;
- secret missions at a military base;
- fraud and robbery with accomplices from the shelter.
You can also get a job in one of the shops, work in a beauty salon or in a cemetery.
Promenade
One of the attractions of Rorin Heights in The Sims 3 is the promenade, or rather the roller coaster. There are two tracks here: the short one is suitable for those who are not ready for such extreme entertainment and just want to ride with the breeze, but the long thematic route prepared a real test for the sims.
For the last track, you can choose several topics:
- “For the strange”;
- "Miracles on bends";
- "horror".
In the first case, get ready for the fact that the water in the pool will change color, smoke will rise upward, and strange tentacles of the sea monster will appear from time to time. You can choose the theme of "miracles on bends" so that all the water turns into bubbles, and seals jump out of it. On the track of "horrors" you can meet sharks and ghosts.
All sims from school age are allowed on a roller coaster. But if the baby has not yet grown up to such entertainment, you can go with him to the carousel. If you get tired of extreme entertainment, you can go with the company to a pool table or table football. You can even find televisions here. And they look like modern, which is rather strange. Here you can listen to songs at the music center.
There are devices for funny photos, which, apparently, are installed just for the sake of scenery. But real photos can be made in photo booths. There are a couple of food courts nearby, but cooking, as always, is independent, using the grill and bar. You can also have dinner on the ocean in the gazebo, but you will have to grab ready-made food here.
Holidays and other entertainment
Since the city itself is a real holiday, there are no special events here. But if you wish, you can arrange seasonal fairs. For this, a festival lot will be installed on the main square. Funnily enough these retroshims look that burgers eat at speed.
Among the attractions there are also a couple of special city attractions. For example, a city park. Although you should be prepared for the fact that it looks more like a garden where tomatoes, onions, potatoes and garlic are planted. There is a garden where you can taste apples. And the arbor became the main feature of the park.
In the Ocean Park you can enjoy grilled dishes and have a perfect date. There is a building in which toilets are located on the ground floor, above two floors with benches, and on the roof you can enjoy a beautiful view of the city. The city has the opportunity to go fishing or go on vacation to one of the local beaches.
The sims 4
The fourth part of the series of games appeared in 2014. On the PC, the project was launched immediately, but for game consoles it became available only in 2017. In the fourth part, the gamer still has no goals and plot. He can control the characters (up to 8 people), which he created with his own hands. It is still important to monitor the sim’s needs, health and desires. You can build and repair houses.
In the new part, developers have expanded the emotional spectrum. The character editor has changed a bit. All sliders disappeared from it. All changes regarding the body and face can be made with the mouse. When choosing clothes, more variations and subcategories appeared.
It has become much easier to build houses. Now you can rotate entire rooms, rotate and resize. Drag or stretch walls. Control mechanics have become much more convenient.
But the lack of a new part was the lack of an open game world, for which the developers so fought in the previous chapter of the series. Also, the rotation of the download menu has disappeared. In "Sims 4" there is not a single non-player character that has been seen before. The style editor was removed, which allowed to diversify any item in the game. The opportunity to level the relief for building construction has disappeared.
All additions to "Sims 4": list and description
The novelty has received so far only 4 official DLC:
- "To work".
- "Have fun together."

- "Cats and dogs".
Supplement "To work" first became known in March 2015. It spread immediately to two towns: Magnolia and Promenade. In it, the characters were able to get acquainted with three new professions: detective, doctor and scientist. In each of them, the player himself can control the success of the character. Here you can independently establish a photo studio or a store, engage in procurement and other organizational matters.
“Having Fun Together” is an expansion that came out in December 2015. Along with it, it became possible to add a location that completely copies a large ancient European city. Sims here can be DJs and have group dances and parties. You can also create and create your own thematic community.
“Life in the city” opens the opportunity for anyone to visit the city and settle in it. You can buy a simple apartment or get a luxurious penthouse. And after going to equip public life in the metropolis, participating in cultural and political events.

Problems with the Sims 4

Less often, problems arise when using licensed games that were previously sold on discs, but now you can buy on the official website and from distributors. Errors and crashes in pirated versions are a common problem that cannot always be resolved.
But what to do if the Sims 4 lags with mods? Here things are somewhat more complicated. The fact is that all mods are a third-party unofficial addition to the game. Therefore, any system conflicts are very difficult to avoid, especially if the number of mods exceeds a couple of hundred. In this case, it is better to delete all available third-party files or completely reinstall the game. After that, it will be possible to download new mods, but this should be done in moderation so as not to encounter such errors. Some players recommend downloading 20-30 mods, and then checking the performance of the game. In this case, it will be easy to identify the “corrupted” files.
