Even with the strongest and most hardworking hands you won’t take much with you. Therefore, various devices for carrying and transporting goods come to the aid of those working in the garden area. The most famous in the inventory arsenal is a garden car.
It helps the gardener transport over short distances (at least within the garden area) other, smaller
gardening tools, soil, humus, liquid fertilizers and other similar loads. It’s rare when more than 100 kilograms or liters are transported in her body at a time. Therefore, its design is lighter than that of a construction car, and less fortified.
It may seem that, for example, a one-wheeled construction car will take more and be lucky. However, the gardener does not have a constant need to transport heavy loads, comparable in volume and weight with building materials. In addition, despite the increased maneuverability of a one-wheeled car, its weight plus the weight of the load create a large load on the wheel. This leads to the fact that it is buried in soft soil and greatly complicates the movement.
A two-wheeled garden car is slightly heavier than a one-wheeled one, it unfolds worse in a limited space. But the load on the wheels is evenly distributed, and the center of gravity during the movement does not "walk" either left or right. Such a car is very stable when traveling on asphalt, and on a
garden path, and on the boundary of a garden plot.
The best design is with handles wide apart so that a person can fit freely between them. In this case, the force vectors are such that, with maximum carrying capacity and maintaining maneuverability, the load on the back of the worker is significantly reduced.
Despite the wide variety of designs and models, it is very difficult for a fastidious gardener to choose the right option. On the other hand, garden owners often have to repair and assemble various devices themselves. And the farm may still find usable parts. Practice shows that a garden wheelbarrow with your own hands can be assembled literally from improvised materials. And in a relatively short time.
Structurally, any garden wheelbarrow consists of a body, a running gear and a handle with a support. As a rule, the least problems arise with the assembly of the body - suitable residues of building materials, glued, knocked down or welded, can go to it. The design is a little more complicated if a removable board is required so that long instruments can be transported. An excellent body for bulk and liquid fertilizers is obtained from a cut along an iron barrel.
On a
chassis, one- or two-wheeled, usually go wheels from a bicycle or motorcycle. They are attached to the bottom of the body on ball bearings with the expectation that between the front side of the body and the axis of the chassis there is a distance of about a third of the length of the entire car.
The handle and support are made of half-inch steel pipes and are attached to the sides of the body. In this case, the support is selected in height so that the garden wheelbarrow lowered on it takes a horizontal position.
Note that even if you have to buy any missing parts, it will still cost you less than the purchase of a finished garden car.
