Beginning florists, as a rule, always care about the same question: how to properly cut the roses. At first glance, this process seems intimidating and very laborious. However, if you follow certain rules, then grafting is not particularly difficult.
This procedure is best started in the summer. The best months are late June - early June. Before the onset of cold weather, the cuttings will have time to take root well, and this will allow them to normally winter. For cuttings, the one-year-old shoots of roses will be most suitable, since they are already partially numb. Too young shoots are also not suitable for them.
Cuttings of roses begin to be carried out by means of a lower cut immediately near the kidney. Its angle should correspond to forty-five degrees. The upper straight cut is preferably located above the kidney by seven millimeters. The optimal length of the handle is ten centimeters. The bottom sheet must be removed, and the top one should be left, as it will help to preserve moisture in the cuttings and reduce evaporation. Deepening into the soil is done by the lower kidney strictly at an angle of forty-five degrees. After planting, you must immediately water and spray the rose.
Rooting of cuttings and their safe growth in the first two weeks is best done at an ambient temperature of not more than twenty-five degrees and with an average humidity of eighty-five percent. Young cuttings do not tolerate direct sunlight, so it is better for them to create a small partial shade, in order to avoid burns. Optimum humidity is easily maintained by spraying. It is desirable that the leaves are constantly wet. Watering should be moderate, since overmoistening of the soil threatens to rot the cuttings. Signs of true roots appear within two weeks. During this period, spraying can be done less frequently. If the cuttings of roses were made in a greenhouse, then you should not rush to a transplant by winter. It is most advisable to transplant roses into pots and leave for the winter in the same greenhouse, insulating them with rotted manure.
You can cut the roses in the fall. A pit about thirty centimeters deep is pre-prepared. Then ordinary grass is laid in it to the level of twenty centimeters. Peat and a layer of compost are poured on top. All this must be well poured with water, and rose cuttings should be placed in the prepared soil. On the surface you need to build a greenhouse. To do this, take the metal rods and place them in a circle. Then throw a film on them, and press the edges tightly with bricks. Get a kind of tent. It can also be insulated from above. Under such conditions, the cuttings will winter well and successfully continue their development in the spring.
Any budding gardener can cut roses at home. It is necessary to wait for the period when the buds are fully formed and have acquired color. This is the best time for root formation, which will further contribute to the development of a beautiful bush rose.
The choice of the mother bush should be approached very responsibly. It must be absolutely clean, without any plaque or stains. Then you need to carefully cut the best cuttings and plant in a container. Prepared land must contain a mixture of earth and sand. The soil must be moistened. It is not recommended to put cuttings in the sun. You can build a kind of greenhouse for them by cutting a plastic bottle and removing the cork beforehand, as the cuttings must also breathe. As a result, the plant has its own microclimate. It needs to be sprayed daily and not to allow the soil to dry out. After two weeks, the rooting of the cuttings begins, and after about a month the plant is completely rooted. Watering should be reduced during this period. In early autumn, the plant must be moved to a room where the temperature does not drop below zero. In spring, a plant can be planted with confidence in open ground.
Thus, the cuttings of roses will not cause problems even at home. And if everything is done correctly, then roses will delight gardeners with their flowering from the beginning of summer until late autumn.
