The history of one of the oldest and most beloved dogs of the Chinese aristocracy and clergy is shrouded in many legends and traditions. The inimitable appearance of the Chow Chow, its mysterious nature allowed the ancient owners to come up with the most diverse ancestors of this animal - bears, lions and even long-gone polar wolves.
The Chinese nobility was sure that these amazing dogs, similar to cubs, are the messengers of the gods. And the poor inhabitants of some areas of the country considered them a healing delicacy that they ate.
These animals fell to many different tests and breeding experiments. But, unfortunately, neither numerous legends nor the tests of scientists revealed the secrets of this breed. Why do these dogs have a blue tongue? Why are these animals so silent? Where does their incredible cleanliness come from?
To the great regret of dog handlers and dog lovers, it is now impossible to trace the pedigree of Chinese dog breeds. In the third century BC e. the ruler of the country, Qin Shihuan-di, quarreling with scientists, destroyed all the literature of the empire, including records of animal breeding. According to some researchers, these animals came to China during the devastating raids of the Mongol-Tatars. Huge dogs with blue tongues, similar to lions, terrified the Chinese warriors. After the armistice, the Mongols presented the emperor with the gift of their four-legged fighters. Dogs that looked like cubs made a proper impression on the court aristocrats. The rich began to breed amazing animals.
There are many versions about the name of the breed. According to the most plausible of them, it is believed that dogs with a blue tongue got their name from the merchandise of merchant ships, where the very first representatives of this breed were transported.
The serious work of breeders on these individuals has done its job. Dogs that look like cubs in our time have become real aristocrats and loyal companions. They look great, behave restrained. Their body is compact, the tail is very tightly pressed to the broad back. Ears give a gloomy expression to the ears brought forward and inclined to the eyes.
Another amazing little dog that looks like a teddy bear is a Pomeranian. These are very tiny animals, which are quite simple to keep in the apartment. These wonderful decorative dogs grow up to 22 centimeters. They have a thick and very fluffy coat. From this fluffy cloud peeks out a small muzzle with shiny beady eyes. This is a good-natured and very affectionate dog that gets along well with children. Spitz is boundlessly attached to his master and is ready to spend all day with him. These tiny dogs, similar to cubs, are very hardy, have little exposure to colds (unlike many dwarf breeds). They do not have to be carried on hands; they can spend hours walking on a leash. Caring for these animals is easy. They comb them three times a week and bathe with special shampoos once every two weeks.
