Parrots - birds are pretty smart, active and playful. Usually they are turned on by people who cannot afford other animals because of their employment. It is enough for the bird to pour a certain amount of food once a day and pour water into the drinker, and your pet will not remain hungry even during your absence.
But in addition to a spacious cage, a cozy house and a balanced diet, you will definitely need toys for parrots. They are especially needed if the pet will be kept alone, without a couple. To some extent, your conversations will replace his communication with relatives, however, organization of leisure time will not be superfluous.
Which parrot toys do you usually choose?
It can be swings, bells, rings, mirrors, etc. Parrots are able to distinguish colors, so any bright little thing will be to the taste of birds. Almost all such pets, like small children, try any objects "on their own tooth", more precisely - on the beak. Therefore, the main thing when choosing is to pay attention to the quality of the material and paint.
If you choose a swing, look how strong the material is and whether the paint is not behind the wood. Even its smallest grains can be toxic. Reliability of fastening is also important here - during a fall, a bird can not only be frightened, but also be injured.
Such toys for parrots, of which a mirror is a part, are very popular. Sometimes in pet stores selling ladders and swings with it. There are also simply individual mirrors in a plastic frame. Since parrots not only distinguish colors, but are also able to see their reflection, it is this object that will perfectly brighten up the loneliness of the bird during your absence. It should be noted that such things are only suitable for solitary confinement. If you plan to continue breeding birds, then do not put a mirror at all, or remove it when the couple is shared - it often happens that a pet, accustomed to communicate with its reflection, does not pay attention to the female (male) that appears.
Toys for budgies can be made independently. The main thing, as already mentioned, is to pay attention to the toxicity of the material (or rather, to the absence of toxic substances in the composition) and its strength. As home improvised material, you can take buttons, threads (only durable), drinking tubes, etc.
For example, a “flounce” of threads will look very beautiful. To make it, you will need scissors, about three to four meters of yarn (the one that women take for knitting), a matchbox (or any other about the same size), beads, buttons and a bell. The thread is wound on a matchbox (in length), the resulting skein is intercepted at the top by another thread and cut at the bottom. It turns out a real pompom for children's hats. The upper part is once again wrapped with thread (we fix), the remainder of which is brought up (for this end we then hang the toy).
The bottom of the pompom is decorated with multi-colored buttons or beads. To do this, we string objects on the free end of the thread, and then make a knot that fixes the decoration. In the central part of the pompom we fasten (tie) a bell. The toy is ready. It remains to firmly fix it.
When arranging the cage, try to arrange the toys for the parrots so that the bird can easily move between them.
