September 17, 1906 is the birthday of the native Muscovite Lyubov Voronkova. The girl grew up very talented and from childhood was very fond of drawing. The most expensive gift for her was an ordinary box of pencils, which opened the way to an endless fantasy world. Bearing the dream of becoming a famous artist, Lyuba entered the Stroganov School. However, they soon had to interrupt their favorite activities: hard and hungry times prompted the girl’s large family to look for a place where they could survive. The choice fell on the village of Koskovo near Moscow.
A family of 7 people huddled in a small hut and fed on hard peasant labor, which had to be accustomed to the fragile 12-year-old Lyuba. However, the girl’s work was not a burden, as it was the only means of subsistence. Life in the rural expanses revealed to the girl all the beauty of Russian nature, instilled a love for the land and the people who worked on it. In between home cares, the future writer read a lot and with great rapture. The accumulated impressions and the desire to share his thoughts with the world prompted the talented author to take up the pen.
The beginning of literary activity
The first publication - poems about the housekeeper Varvara, was held in the newspaper Komsomolskaya Pravda. This happened when Lyuba returned to the capital, where she plunged headlong into journalistic activities, traveled extensively and often around the country and wrote about workers, whose work she knew firsthand. In 1940, Voronkova’s first book, Shurka, consisting of 11 stories, saw the light of day. However, the war came - a time of completely different heroes.
Love Voronkova began to write about that terrible time that radically changed the life of a whole country, or rather, a whole world. One after another, from a writing pen, books on wartime began to be published: “A Girl from the City”, “Village Gorodishche”, “Dashing Days”, “Forest Hut”.
Especially in the hearts of readers sank the novel “A Girl from the City”, written in 1943, because she told about what every person faced in the war and after the war: about mercy, mutual assistance, kindness, honesty, humanity. Her heroine is the city girl Valyusha, left without parents and ended up with a rural family with three children. This is the life story of ordinary people who managed to survive in that terrible war and did not lose the most important human qualities: responsiveness and faith in themselves and people.

"Village Gorodishche" is a book about the war, quite in demand among the readership. The idea of ​​its creation arose when Lyubov Voronkova in the editorial office of Pionerskaya Pravda suggested writing an essay on how life is getting better in cities and villages freed from fascist invaders.
Immediately embarking on a difficult trip, Lyubov Voronkova saw terrible pictures: she sat down, burned to the ground, with protruding skeletons from the stoves, charred trees and hemp from them, minefields, blown up cars and people who returned home, exhausted, undressed, half-starved. Strong in spirit and not broken by war, they are full of desire to quickly establish life on devastated land. The impressions received in one essay were too many, so Love decided to share them in a separate book - “Village Gorodishche”. In it, she showed the courage and labor heroism of a Soviet man, his dream of a happy and peaceful future without war.
Under a peaceful sky
In a world without war, Voronkova Lyubov Fedorovna began to write books of a completely different content. This is “Sunny Day”, “Magic Coast”, “Snow is Falling”, “Star Commander”, “Fedya and Danilka”, “Golden Keys”, “Masha-Rosteryasha”. In the work “Girlfriends Go to School”, it is interestingly narrated about two village girls Alenka and Tanya, who help adults in every way and live an interesting life with its daily adventures. Lyubov Voronkova endowed all her heroes with sincerity, a pure heart, reason, kindness, and the ability to compassion. From the pages of books, the author does not get tired of talking about strong friendship, honesty in everything, love for the motherland.
According to the works of Lyubov Fedorovna, one can easily guess how her contemporaries lived, what they thought they were worried about. Some books are addressed to the older generation and are built on a documentary basis: “Where is your home?”, “Restless person”, “Altai story”, in which the author spoke about the inhabitants of Gorny Altai, a region of incredible beauty, and the development of gardening in this northern region.
Just a good person
Lyubov Voronkova, whose biography is interesting to the modern readership, is a person whom people have always been drawn to. They came to her with grief, and Lyubov Fedorovna could say the necessary sincere words of comfort. Compassion was read in her gaze, and the person who came in seemed to dump a heavy load tormenting him from his shoulders. The Soviet writer, who was characterized by tremendous love of life, took foreign joy for her own, so they went to her for support and advice. Especially often beginner authors turned to Voronkova. Plunge into history
Shortly before her death, Lyubov Voronkova began to write historical novels dedicated to Tsar Cyrus, Alexander of Macedon, the legendary Themistocles. Before writing, the author tuned for a long time, carefully studied historical materials about the time that she was going to display in her works. She even went to Central Asia, where she tried to recharge herself with knowledge, inspiration. The result of the trip was a book about the life of Uzbek children "Garden under the clouds."
In 1969, a book was published that included two historical novels - “Messenian Wars” (about people from the small country of Messenia, heroically fighting for their freedom) and “Trace of a fiery life” (about King Cyrus the Great and his interesting fate). The book, unlike her previous works, spoke of an ancient, sunken world. Studying a large number of historical materials, the author tried to convey to the reader the knowledge gained, approximating a bygone era.
Then from the pen came the long-awaited historical books “The Son of Zeus” (about the childhood and youth of the Macedonian king), “In the depths of centuries” (about his campaigns and the creation of the state) and “Hero of Salamis” (about Themistocles, the Athenian commander of the Greek period Persian Wars).
The Soviet writer, a beautiful woman, a bright man, died on January 20, 1976.
