It is no secret that in many respects the quality of the
carpentry depends on what tools the master used in its manufacture. Of course, even the most modern tools will not be able to turn a novice carpenter into a skilled craftsman, but the fact that solid and properly selected
carpentry tools will greatly simplify this task is an indisputable fact. They not only help the novice master in acquiring the necessary skills, but also make the process more enjoyable. At the same time, working with an uncomfortable and poor-quality tool can nullify all the beginner's efforts.
All craftsmen, regardless of experience and skill level, have a number of requirements for their inventory: carpentry tools must be durable, easy to use and as efficient as possible. A wide range of stores in this segment of the construction market is able to satisfy the needs of the most demanding customers. However, despite the fact that today many devices have their own mechanical counterparts, most joiners are of the opinion that a set of hand tools is still preferable. It should be noted that a single list of carpentry equipment simply does not exist - each craftsman selects it independently, guided by certain considerations and preferences. Nevertheless, there are several devices, which, perhaps, are not necessary, but it is desirable for each joiner. So, the basic universal toolkit :
- The construction ax is designed to solve a number of problems: chopping wood, selecting grooves, processing logs and boards, fitting individual structural units.
- Saw. It is strongly recommended that you have at least two of its varieties in your arsenal: a two-handed with large teeth for sawing logs and a hacksaw for working with smaller segments.
- Sherhebel - a tool designed for initial processing of wood. The surface planed by the sherbel is somewhat uneven and has some grooves and indentations.
- Plane. There are several types, but the most common are planers with a single knife, designed to smooth just sawn or previously planed with a sherkhebelom, as well as planers with a double knife, used for fine planing of wood and planing the ends. Has a counter-knife (chipbreaker), which allows to obtain a better surface of the parts.
- A jointer and a half jointer can be called a kind of planer variety. They are intended to work with material having a large surface area.
- Chisels and chisels are carpentry tools used to hollow out nests and holes.
- Drills and augers perform the same work as the chisels, only faster.
No matter how good the carpentry tools are, it is very difficult to ultimately get a product of the proper quality if the craftsman does not have a decent workplace. Ideally, this should be a special workbench bought in a store or made independently.
