The Warcraft universe has millions of fans. The story, which began in 1994 with the game "Warcraft: Orcs and People", suddenly gained popularity and became a hit that was played on every computer. And on May 25, 2016, the film of the same name was released. Unfortunately, it only shows a segment of the life of the orcs. How did it all begin?
Draenor
Initially, the Orc tribes lived peacefully and rarely thought of wars. Their story begins in the world of Draenor, where their ancestors existed in prosperity and grandeur until the invasion of the Burning Legion. The demons were able to trick the Orcs into believing that the people of the Draenei living nearby were enemies, and promised as an aid the forces necessary for conquest.
To do this, they had to drink the blood of one of the leaders of the Legion - Mannoroth. After that, the orcs acquired a look familiar to everyone - green skin and burning eyes. The only ones who refused to take part in the ritual were the orcs from the Frostwolf tribe.
The Orcs (Warcraft) completely destroyed the Draenei using the power gained, and right after that the Legion disappeared. Left without a purpose of existence, but full of bloodlust, the tribes began to squabble with each other.
The invasion of Azeroth
After some time, an entity penetrated the mind of the Horde sorcerers. A mage of Azeroth named Medivh contacted the Horde and suggested opening a portal to new lands that could be conquered. The deal was concluded, and Orcs poured into the new world. "Warcraft" (first part) tells just about these events.
As a result of the invasion, one of the largest human cities, Stormguard, was destroyed. During the war, the orcs learned necromancy and with renewed vigor continued to push the Alliance of Humans, Elves, and Dwarves to the north. However, due to the internal showdowns, the Horde was defeated, and the portal was destroyed. The surviving orcs were placed in camps.
Thrall
Seven years after the events described, the son of one of the leaders named Thrall managed to escape from slavery and began to unite disparate tribes. Having learned about the past and how demons influenced the culture of orcs, he decided to return to the roots and began to study shamanism. Thus begins the third story in the universe of "Warcraft" (game). Orcs, seeking to free themselves from the slavery of people and the power of the Burning Legion, begin a new war.
In its course, trolls and tauren join the orcs. Arriving on the continent of Kalimdor, Thrall makes an alliance with people seeking a prophet, and his right hand, Thunder Hellscream, collides with the elves during deforestation and, for the sake of victory, drinks from the lake poisoned with the same Mannorot blood.
After that, humans and orcs fight against demons together, and Thrall heals Thunder. As a result, he sacrifices his life to kill Mannoroth. Orcs ("Vrakraft" tells in detail about this) are freed from the power of demons. Teaming up with humans and elves, Thrall stops the demons from invading Azeroth.
New time
After the war was over, the orcs took possession of some land in Kalimdor and began to live independently of other races. The founded kingdom was called Durotar. Orgrimmar became the capital. However, the troubles of the Orc race did not end there.
Not all people were of the opinion that an alliance with the Horde is the right thing. Admiral Daelin Proudmoore invaded Durotar, deciding to commit genocide. However, his daughter Jaina, with whom Thrall fought together against the Legion, came to the aid of her allies, and the troops of the invaders were defeated.
Life
Orcs ("Warcraft") of the new world turned out to be ambiguous people. Despite the fact that Thrall tried to restore faith in his ancestors, instill shamanism and nobility, many clans continue to be paramilitary units. Young orcs reach physical maturity early, so combat training and life in Spartan conditions are a hallmark of the people.
Accordingly, the highest benefactor for any orc is honor. At the same time, hospitality is the most important feature that this people appreciates. Thanks to this quality, tauren were able to easily integrate into the Orcish culture after assistance during the war.
An interesting feature in "medieval" fantasy is that the Orc race has completely no sexual discrimination. Women are free to choose any profession and have equal rights with men in political activity. It also leads to certain obligations. For example, in the event of war, female individuals are also required to stand in line. Such they are orcs. Warcraft is a harsh world in which everyone survives as best he can.
Film
If you want to know even more about the life of this people, the games of the series and books on the Warcraft universe are best suited. But the recently released film received many conflicting reviews. And judging by them, the orcs from the movie "Warcraft" weakly correspond to their prototypes, and their life and foundations are shown too superficially for a person to make an unambiguous opinion about this race. Therefore, if you want to get to know the Warcraft lore tightly, feel free to play the game. She will help you answer the most tricky questions about orcs.
