Tyumen Embankment

Excursion programs

The rich history of the city made it possible to form multiple excursion routes, each of which will allow you to get acquainted with different periods of the settlement.

The most popular walking tour with a tour of the wooden architecture of the city, which this year will be 432 years old. There are many holy places, with old and new temples and churches. The mansions of the merchants of the past and the year before last are interesting, they are famous for their exquisite decoration and carved facade, which even the artist Glazunov Ilya admired. In addition, most of the mansions belonged to famous people of Russia.

Tyumen carpets

One can not help but mention the well-known carpets that are admired by contemporary designers to this day. According to various written testimonies, carpets in Tyumen appeared around the 16th century, and for some 20-30 years, the county became the center of carpet weaving.

Historic and religious buildings

As a rule, sightseeing in Tyumen necessarily begins with the promenade (Tura River). By the way, it is in Tyumen that the embankment is a four-level construction, which is not found in any other city in Russia. Be sure to visit the pedestrian bridge of Lovers. Walking along the promenade, you can see many interesting buildings in the district.

Holy Trinity Monastery

Holy Trinity Monastery

It is located on Kommunisticheskaya street, 10, on the high Zatyumensky cape. This is one of the oldest sights of Tyumen. The monastery was founded in 1616, and until 1715 it was called the Transfiguration of the Savior.

The architectural complex consists of three buildings that are completely characteristic of the period when the monastery was built. The ensemble includes:

  • Trinity Cathedral
  • Church of Peter and Paul.
  • A bell-shaped bell tower.
  • Seminary (3-story building).
  • Construction for craftsmen, shops and outbuildings.
  • The fence (392 meters) and the central gate.

Women's Mother of God Monastery

The first mention of this landmark of the city of Tyumen is present in the annals of 1568. Then the construction of the Elias Church began, and already in 1620, a female monastic community was founded under it. Over the long years of existence, this holy place has changed its name several times. To date, there are 15 nuns and abbess in the monastery. They, as in the old days, get up at 6 in the morning, then there is a morning prayer, a meal and so on. There is a children's boarding house at the monastery, where they teach theology and Christian traditions, and theatrical Orthodox productions are staged.

Former Commercial School

At the end of the 19th century, in the Zatyumenki district, the merchant Zheleznov erected hotels. Already in 1900, the merchants Kolokolnikovs bought this building (also the second - the Kuznetsovs tea packing company) and opened a commercial school in them. True, not a single student was released: at first the revolution prevented, then the Civil War. With the arrival of the Bolsheviks, the buildings were privatized and, at certain intervals, various administrative and training institutions were located here.

Therefore, the question of what sights are present in Tyumen is rather naive. Even this building is part of the historical appearance of the central part of the village, built in the neoclassical style.
